Kansas Prairie

in quilts

I designed this quilt late last fall after I won the seven blocks that are bordered by the thin black strips of fabric. I made the block that is at the top of the middle row, the other blocks were made by other guild members. My block was voted the favorite of this group of fabric and I was given the other blocks in that same group. The fabric used in this quilt and those blocks was from the Kansas Troubles line of fabric by Moda. The large sunflowers in the corners are from one of Judy Mathieson’s patterns in her book “Mariner’s Compass Quilts” (new directions). I hand appliquéd the border and hand quilted this quilt.

Beautiful Karen… so glad you finally have it finished up and will be able to bring it to “Cuttin’ Loose”. I’ll bring my camera and take pictures there (with you in it). Can’t wait to see
the finished quilt. You always do such beautiful work.
