Clean up

Wow I tell you we had a lot of small branches knocked down from the last 2 storms, you really don’t notice it that much until you get outside and start picking them.  Yesterday I got some exercise pushing the wheelbarrow around only one section of the “yard” (almost 4 acres) I filled it to overflowing two times, and then picked up a dead tree that had broken into 3 pieces (a skinny one) dragged that to the area where it will all be burned.  There are many more branches and then of course we haven’t even started to clean up the downed trees from 2 weeks ago – they fell into the woods so they can stay there for sometime to come for all I care.  They are not in my way.  I will try to pick up more branches in the upcoming weeks and get the yard cleaned up somewhat.  We have daffoldils coming out of the ground — some have buds on them.  Early spring?  I heard the groundhogs – one from Pennsylvania, one from Georgia and one from Wisconsin disagreed on how early that will come it was 2 to 1 (2 for early – I will agree with that one).  We always have some early daffodils — it is not uncommon to have daffodils flowering with snow on the ground around here.  Usually they flower and then we have a late February snow fall, looks pretty for a day or two and doesn’t ruin the flowers.  I have so many varieties of these flowers that I will have them flowering for two months in the spring.  I planted some new bulbs this year and of course have forgotten what I have now and anxiously awaiting  spring to see what comes up.
