First it was a wind storm and tornadoes in our area then 2 unusual heavy snow storms in March and here we go again only this time unusually heavy rain. Over a period of about 30 hours we received 6 1/2 inches of rain. Our ground has been so totally saturated with water between rain and snow falls that we are now experiecing flooding!! At least we are on high ground — here are some photo’s of area’s nearby:

3 years and 3 weeks later my Dear Jane quilt or Insanity as I call has all the pieces pieced and in place!! 4,928 pieces in this masterpiece and a total of 490 hours and 40 minutes of hand work!!!! Next step is to quilt it — that will be later this year and another photo will be here when that is done. Some wondered if I would ever finish it –

I thought my next project was going to be the quilt called Nearly Insane but that was before I saw the quilt called “Dutch Treat” it is a wonderful complicated quilt that is all done in the reverse applique method. It will most likely take me several years of needle turn applique by hand to do it, but it is a wonderful looking quilt. I do not know what colors I will make it in as of now but I am thinking about it. The book features it in blue and white here is a photo of the book:

And just when you think you have the last winter storm and that you can’t possibly have another one at this time in March you get slammed with another one!! what the heck is going on here this is Arkansas not Wisconsin!!! Usually at this time of March we are mainly in the 50′s and 60′s for temperatures. The daffodils are blooming as are the crocuses, the clemantis are starting to get their leaves, early trees are budding, shrubs are flowering – as I mentioned in the previous post we had 12 inches of snow on Tuesday — we are located in central Arkansas on the northwest edge of it at the bottom of the Ozark Mountains. Yesterday it started to snow at noon and continued on through the night and we woke up this morning to a beautiful sight! 8 1/2 inches of fresh – very heavy wet snow. Several tree limbs broke from the weight of the snow, the branches in some places were brushing the ground. The deck covered in snow. Here are several pictures of our winter wonderland (and by the way by Tuesday we are back in the 60′s
our weird Arkansas March). This first picture is from Tuesday’s snow, throwing a snowball at Mike.

A view of the workshop we are currently putting siding on this side, only a little bit left to do if the weather would just cooperate with us. Also a good view of part of the house in winter wonderland.

We do not get very much snow here in the winter, maybe it will snow one to three times in the winter and it usually isn’t very much here in the north central part of Arkansas. Well today we woke up to 12 inches of snow — and this is after just having had a weekend of near 70 degrees, flowers are blooming, trees are budding — and this is what it looks like today!
