in places
We took the new motor home out for a short trip this weekend to give it a little shake down and make sure we know how to operate everything before going on a longer trip in September. We drove over to the Petite Jean State Park here in Arkansas the park is about an hour drive from us –it is a very pretty park – we have been there numerous times over the last 28 years but boy it sure was hot this time!! We are in the midst of what hopefully is a short heat. We had intended to stay until close to 3 yesterday afternoon but by 10:30 AM it was already close to 90 and was heading towards 100 according to the weather forecast so we packed it up and left for home. This motorhome is much smaller than the 5th wheel camper we had for the past 2 years but the 5th wheel proofed to be much larger than what we wanted or needed. Here are a couple photo’s of our new Navion IQ by Itasca:

On the quilting side of it I didn’t get done with much but I did bring along my Dutch Treat quilt squares to work on and finished one of them:

My friend Julie who is working on her first Dear Jane quilt has completed her first row complete with sashing. She has been working hard on it and it came out great. Here is a photo of her first completed row:

We tacked up my completed first row under it so we could see how different they look — same quilt - different colors. When Regina gets her first row sashed together we will take a photo of all of the different looks that our first row of this quilt has. Amazing how different they can look just with different fabric and color. Here are the two rows next to each other:

in quilts
I have been very busy lately and haven’t really had anything to write about for awhile. I have been busy with my quilting. The most recent news is that we have traded in our large 5th wheel camper and bought a new small motor home. It is a Navion IQ by Itasica – here is a link, if you go to it you can see some photo’s of it http://www.winnebagoind.com/products/itasca/navion-iq/index.php our model is the 24CL, it had more storage than the other one and we didn’t need the bench seat that turned into an extra bed – also it looked uncomfortable! Now to find space for all that is needed on a regular basis, dishes, pot’s, towels, the list goes on and on. I am finding though that there is plenty of storage space and even though it is smaller we actually had too much stuff in the 5th that we didn’t need and didn’t use but had “just in case”. This unit has no slides and is sometimes referred to as “skinny winnie”
it will take a little time to get use to but I think we can manage just fine.
I will not really have room for tons of quilting supplies but the neat thing about mainly hand piecing and applique and hand quilting is that you don’t need a lot of supplies to turn out quilts. I will have my hand work — Dear Jane and Dutch Treat and my smaller quilting hoop with whatever small quilt I am quilting and that should be plenty – tuck in a small bag of supplies and I will be ready. I might actually be able to finish this second DJ in less time than the first one!
We will most likely take the motor home next weekend to try it out and see if we need to make any adjustments to where items are stored and I will take some photo’s then to post.
I have not been working very hard on my quilts this summer, too busy doing other things I guess. I have been reading alot and working on my gardens. I have gotten 2 rows of DJ completed here is a photo:
