We are just about ready to start traveling again. Mike is finishing his contract job at the end of this week and then we hit the road after Labor Day. First stop from the way it looks will be at Fort Massac State Park in Illinois http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/Landmgt/PARKS/R5/frmindex.htm we like historic type of places and this fits the bill — also and this is a big also it is 8 miles from Paducah Kentucky home of the quilt museum and Hancocks of Paducah fabric quilting store. Pretty neat huh. I might have to ship a box home before I am even 6 hours from home
We plan on being in that area for a couple days then heading north. We will end up near Madison Wisconsin in order to spend some time visiting with our daughter and her family — will be great to see the grandchildren again and our lovely daughter and son-in-law of course. And another also – we will get there just in time to spend a day at the Madison quilt show. Good timing. I will be trying to keep the blog up to date and post photo’s along the way of things we see and do.

Ok, this doesn’t have to do with quilting but with sewing. If you have a camper and have a hard time finding sheets to fit your bed if you can sew give this a try. http://www.alternative-windows.com/fitted-sheet.htm custom made sheets to fit your bed perfectly – or as perfect as your sewing will let you get. If you think it will be a problem finding fabric wide enough for those sheets and you aren’t a quilter and you do not know that you can find wide pieces of fabric so that you do not need to sew long pieces together here is a site that you can order wide fabric from: http://www.christianlanequilters.citymax.com/home.html I have ordered fabric from this site and they have all kinds of fabric and in up to 118″ wide. I ordered the cotton sateen fabric for my bottom fitted sheet that I am making and although it is a little slippery to work with it feels great. I am only making the bottom fitted sheet and will go with an already made top sheet and pillow cases. I had thought to make pillow cases to match but the fabric is slippery and I gave up on it! I have plenty of pillow cases anyhow and really didn’t need to make any. I need to pick up some elastic tomorrow and then I will finish the sheet and see how it fits – I sure hope I took my measurements right and that this will work
if it works I will take a photo to post another day.

in weather
Now that the heat wave is over – a short one at that! — the weather has taken an amazing turn and we are waking up to low 60′s in the morning and in the low 80′s daytime. How nice is that! I love it. It sure doesn’t feel like August in central Arkansas. The garden is about finished although I still have some tomatoes coming in but that is about it.
I need to start getting busy and weed some of the flower beds as it had been too hot to bother and now I have no excuse so I better get busy. We will be gone for most of the month of September so I would like to have it cleaned up or I will come home to weeds a foot high.
Dear Jane and Dutch Treat quilts are coming along nicely – slow going but coming along never the less. I have been quilting on two different quilts – two different quilting frames and also I have been piecing and designing a quilt as I go with it – I’m not sure what the end result will be. Dear Jane and Dutch Treat will be perfect quilts to bring along in the camper as they are both hand projects that take up little space – hopefully I will get some progress made on them in between plenty of walks at the parks we will be at. I sure hope we have little rain while we are camping.

Our heat wave is coming to an end I believe. It has been at least 10 to 14 days of 100 or near that. Today it only got up to 97
a welcome relief. There hasn’t been a lot to post. We have been busy though and had an unexpected visit with our daughter and her family. Our son-in-law’s mom was in the hospital near by so they came to visit and we got to entertain our grandchildren while they were up at the hospital. Just a weekend but that is ok, we go to visit them next month in our motorhome for our first break in trip that will be more than a weekend. Then we will see them for at least a week or so.
