3179969083_fbece914b5Well in between sneezing and blowing my nose 100 times yesterday I managed to finish this scrappy quilt top that I started on Monday evening.  It is small — most likely a baby quilt – kind of looks like one to me.  It is about 46 inches square.  I didn’t have to run out to buy anything to make this one.  I had 2 yards of yellow with white dots on it so that plus my scraps did it.  I almost ran out of the yellow though – barely had enough.  I do not have a name for iE-8 Mama's Maze Dear Janet – what do you all think?

Today I got done with another of my Dear Jane blocks.  E-8 Mama’s Maze.

Yesterday’s Question #12 was What are the following names: Turkey Red, Indigo Blue, Double Pink, & Nile Green?

The answer is Fabric Colors

—————————————————

Question # 13

What characterizes a “summer spread?”

A- light colors

B- no backing

C- no batting

D- smaller than bed quilts, made to be used as picnic cloths

Great job on the DJ and I love the scrappy quilt.

And the answer is no batting.

Sounds like we’ve had the same problem with our noses while trying to work on our quilts. It’s difficult to sew when one has to put the needle down and grab a tissue. Your quilt top is very pretty; my kind of quilt! For lots of string piecing ideas, the book, “Liberated String Quilts”, by Gwen Marston, is a treasure.

thanks for the compliments on the little quilt top everyone. It was really easy to do and I bet I didn’t spend more than 8 hours on it total. I have so many ideas for more scrap quilts and will over the next several months try to make more although I really have to get busy and quilt some also. I’m not getting a lot done today as I’m still dealing with the box of Kleenex!

A summer quilt…let me see…I think most of mine that I make could be classified as summer as they are bright and cheery. I have no flannels which I think are winter quilts.

Love your work posted above here. Very lovely.

Karen you are a natural and gifted artist.
It’s so beautiful and the details on the corner are lovely.
How can you say it was easy and took only 8hrs?? I am struggling even with colours and not to mention putting the blocks together! :)
It is really beautiful.

Gina – I know you have told me that you have not been quilting for a long time, I have been, so what is easy for me would not be as easy for you – but it will be after you have been doing it for awhile. I made my first quilt 33 years ago and it did not turn out well!! no lessons, no classes, I am self taught and it took awhile before I had one turn out good! I really got into it a lot about 20 years ago. You will find it easier after you make a few more.
