First fresh bouquet of flowers from my flower beds — spring is here
When I can finally cut this many daffodils then I think we can safely say it is spring even though we had a little snow fall just a couple days ago. I have leaves large enough to see on my hydrangeas now and on the rose bushes. The weather man says it will be in the low 70′s the rest of the week and 50′s at night!! I am so ready for spring. I put the flowers next to my computer in my sewing room as this seems to be where I spend the most time in the house so might just as well enjoy them.
I didn’t work too much on my applique design today as I was outside and also when I was inside I was baking biscuits for supper because my daughter made some the other day and posted photo’s on her blog From Scratch and that made me hungry for biscuits! She lives a little over an hour away so I couldn’t go beg some from her. I had the last of the sour dough mixture to use up so thought why not. I will start a new batch of sourdough in the future, but right now I have done enough baking for awhile and need to lay off or I will start putting on some unwanted pounds around the middle. I didn’t take any photo’s of my biscuits but they looked just like her nice fat ones and they tasted good too. I have enough left over to toss in the freezer and then pop in the microwave when we want them.
Besides working in the yard and baking biscuits I did do a little work on the applique
design and took another picture so you can see the design growing. As you can see I mean it when I say I am not in any rush. This amount of work took about one to two hours to do and it is not even a complete quarter of the way done. I also did a little more on “Insanity” and gave the frame another crank and finished the the first border and will start on row A this evening. It is going great. For some reason a lot of Dear Jane people say they dread quilting this quilt – they like piecing it but do not want to face quilting it. I think the thought of all those seams is daunting. But I have found that there are actually a lot of places to quilt this quilt. I have bent several needles but that is to be expected and I imagine I will have some more bent needles before I am finished. Oh and before I forget I also did an hour quilting on the quilt guild challenge project – it is coming along nicely and I’m about 1/3 of the way done with it (wall hanging).
Come to think of it I really was busy today – we started off the day going to the fitness center and I walked two miles on the treadmill and rode 4 miles on the bicycle.
