border and A13I have been busy quilting the past 2 weeks on my Dear Jane quilt “Insanity” and it 3333409757_8e3a0a96b7is coming along nicely!  I have gotten 17 hours of quilting in on it and I am done with the top border and 5 blocks – I am going from left to right on my quilting frame which means I am doing the rows in backward order as A1 is on the right and A13 is on the left.

The photo on the upper left is A13 – the photo on the right is A12 & 3334284928_2e4ed9ea6bA11.  As always you can click on the photo’s to enlarge.   The second on the left is A10 & A9.  This week I also managed to finish one more block of my second Dear Jane “Insanity3333408329_13f87016f21 Revisited”  this one is F-9 called Autumn Aster.

Now on the subject of gardening   :)    kind of early I know but I have a question for anyone that does gardening in the same region as I am in — (central Arkansas).  Late last fall I thought maybe it was early enough to  plant some broccoli and as I was able to pick up a half dozen plants on sale I went ahead and got them.  I thought it might be too late to plant them and I was right.  The plants didn’t mature quickly enough and before you know it the cold weather of December was approaching and no broccoli heads on the plants.  I thought well it was just a six pack of plants no big deal but for an experiment I decided to cover the plants thickly with pine needles.  A couple weeks ago as the weather has been warming up I uncovered the plants to see if they were still there – I had 3 of the 6 plants survive the winter and they all had tiny 3334232774_ddb829fb61bits of the broccoli heads growing on them.  Question? how long does it take for them to mature and the plants really look raggedty but it is just the heads that are eaten so3334234904_ee57e23293 should they be alright?  Here are photo’s of what is growing.  I guess I am mainly wondering if because they have been in the ground since late October if they are still any good or if they are stunted in growth or whatever – I am not much of a vegetable gardener.

The day today was beautiful and we had a high of 77 degrees!! Needless to say we were outside most of the day.  It is not normally that warm at this time of year – last year we had a major snow storm — 12 inches of the wet stuff you can go a year back in my blog and see pictures of the big snow storm of 2008 in March if you want to.
