March 12th and we started the day out with a mixture of snow and ice up here on the ridge.  It was not heavy and didn’t last long and only got to 34°  for most of the day — too cool for me.  I would rather have it be in the 80′s and humid I guess.

Thank you to everyone who shared what tv shows they watch.   I see that some of us are interested in the same type of shows.  Which reminds me the reunion show of ER is on tonight and I’m not going to miss it — I do wonder did they talk George Clooney into a cameo?  Would be nice but I wonder, really wonder if they could talk him into it with his busy, busy schedule of stardom – he should remember it helped him get his start to something big.  I must admit that the last 4 years or so I have rarely watched ER.  I use to love it with the old cast that the show started with and then as so many left or got knocked off over the years I lost interest.  When I heard this was the last season I started to watch it as I read that most of the old cast was going to show up from time to time.

3349544103_91ee02bb4eI didn’t go any place today and stayed home and worked on “Insanity” and the guild 3349544759_999de51e56challenge wall hanging.  The wall hanging is almost finished.  I got part way quilting on row B on “Insanity”.  The photo on the left is of B1 and one pieced triangle and a plain one.  The photo on the right is of B2,3 & 4 from right to left.  I was going to start applique work on the “Christmas Cactus Wreath” of the Baltimore Album that I showed a picture of yesterday  but never got around to it.  If I would have put my book down for a little while I might have.

I am continuing with the John Grisham books that I started several weeks ago.  I finished his 3rd book today “The Pelican Brief” it is funny but with each of these 3 books of his I am remembering more from the movies than from the first reading of the books.  There are a lot of things in the books that I had forgotten as of course they leave a lot of the book out of the script when they turn a book into a movie and also change things that “they” think will be more interesting.  The next book is “The Client” that one was turned into a movie also and I bet I will be remembering the movie once again more than the book.  Susan Saradon stared in that one.

As quilters we all are drawn to patterns at quilt shows, the local quilt store,  in the magazines and books ect.  You just have to have them because you know you are going to make them — Right!  Wrong – about making them I mean — I was going through a basket of mine that I keep patterns in and as I am going through them I am thinking why did I get this one, why did I get that one — I am finding patterns that I recall I just had to have because I was going to make it and here some have sat in that basket for 3 or 4 or even 5 years and even longer!!!  I have not touched many of  them since I bought them.  When I am ready to make a new quilt top I really have to go to that basket and pull one out and get started.  Most of them are patterns for wall hangings.  Some of them are really pretty and others I am wondering what was I thinking – how was it that I was attracted to that pattern to the point that I bought it?  And lets not even get started on the stack of magazines and books that I keep  collecting because they have a pattern in them that I might just have to make    :)    lets not even go there.  I think my reason is because I hand quilt and sometimes hand piece it takes awhile to finish each project.  A pattern that I think I will want to make gets forgotten 4 months later when I am almost ready to start something new and by then I have seen something else that has caught my eye and the pattern I bought 3 months before has been forgotten.

Do you all do that too – have way more quilting patterns then you will ever make?  I might just have to go through these patterns once again and have a give away myself – so many of you do that, someone else might want some of these!!  I think I am coming up to 250 posts since I started this blog, I will give it some thought this week and see what I come up with.

I should say that I will not buy anymore patterns for the rest of this year — but I haven’t a clue if I could keep my word so I won’t say it    :)
