Ok after all that work of putting all of those tiny little applique pins in the tiny pieces of the Christmas Cactus Wreath for the Christmas Baltimore Album I decided that I hate those pins and I took the time to glue baste every single piece that I hadn’t appliqued in place– of which there were many –and put every single pin back in its little container! They were constantly coming loose or getting in the way. Applique pins might be the way to go when working on a couple pieces but not for a 16 inch square with 110 pieces or whatever it was!!
I found an interesting site today when I was taking a computer break today from yard work. It is called Quilting Mag. Free patterns besides interesting things to read
I ran to Hobby Lobby this morning to find a few items to add to the guild wall hanging project to give it a 3 dimensional look and I got to looking at some blue/white thin stripe flannel and I got a yard to make a pair of pajama draw string shorts. I am short on shorty pants for the warm weather coming up and thought these would be nice and soft – make them short and even though they are flannel I won’t get too warm in them. I rarely make clothing but after reading CJ’s blog the other day and about the pants she is making I thought why not. I do not have a pattern but will use a pair of pajama pants as a pattern and just make the a lot shorter! If they turn out I will post a photo – but not of me wearing them! I already have some extra drawstrings saved from other pants that have gotten tossed so I don’t need to make that and the fabric was only $3.99 a yard (minus my 40% coupon
– how cheap is that).
I only quilted a short while yesterday so I did not finish row B. I have been neglectful of quilting lately – in a way – I
have worked on other things but took a break from “Insanity”. I did finish block B13 and I am working on the pieced triangle on the end by that block and will do the plain triangle next to it and then it will be time to crank the frame and get started on row C. Moving right along!
So many plants are coming up and I have little flowers all over the place. I tried to do some yard work today, but I shouldn’t have. My neck and shoulders started to ache something awful – I should have waited but I with the weather getting nice you just want to get out there and do something! Oh well, I will lay off the yard and the rake and wheelbarrow and whatever and try to do it next week instead or the week after or the week after that
I am trying to clean out a ditch. (Mike is working on other things and I thought I would do that for my outside project) We have a problem with water run off from the road and shortly after we moved here – 28 years ago we dug a ditch and lined it with rock on one side of the yard for the water to flow though. Well over the years we neglected it and it is full of small trees that need to be cut off, leaves, pine needles, garbage that has washed in – you get the picture. I thought I would start on pruning trees and I got some done, started raking some of the yuck out of it and that is when the shoulders and neck started to act up again. Oh well – there is always next month
