3740650713_a9f5ff23d3Finally the last couple of days I have sat down with “Insanity” and got a little quilting done.  I am now done with row 6, which means half way through the next row I will be half way done quilting this quilt!!  I started quilting it 5 months ago – but was gone for the month of May so that isn’t bad – actually 4 months of 3741443842_d71b98bf89quilting – a total of 70 hours and 35 minutes.  Yes I am that precise.  I keep track of the hours spent on this quilt for prosperity!  It took me 490 hours and 40 minutes to piece this quilt so I will keep track of how long to quilt it also — I figured that would be a heck of a lot less time time than hand piecing that many blocks.

Photo on the left is block numbers 13 & 12.  Photo on the right are the triangle pieces for that row.  I didn’t put a lot of quilting in number 13 and I might got back and add a little more.  I think when I get totally done with the quilt I will go back and look it over and decide then if any more quilting needs to be added for it all to look right.  Most I have a lot of quilting in and not sure if the ones that don’t have as much will look right.

On the Christmas Baltimore Album border #2 I have been working on too and I’m half way done with that border.  I am working on the white flower right now and I’m almost done with that one so tomorrow I will get the last red flower glue basted in place on that.  It is moving along nicely.  I have been getting in a lot of work on the quilts since last Friday for some reason – I tend to do that – work a lot then read a lot.  I go through phases.

From the last post I had I think we all agree we have way too many patterns and not enough time to make them all!  I know I will think I have the next project picked out and then by time I get ready to make a new quilt I have changed my mind and moved on to something else that I have seen.

  2. I tried to keep track of time, as you do, on my current project but I find that I just jump up and down to much LOL. Hooray for passing the half way mark!!

  3. sometimes I loose track of time Crispy but most of the time I keep a little notebook with my project and jot down the time I start and the time I finish – I have not been as good with it as I use to be though. For the Dear Janes I keep a journal with the project so I do better with those two.

Thanks for stopping by Annika, I have put your blog on my reader so I can see what you are doing.

  4. I have a friend who keep time on her quilting too…as hand quilters we know how each minute counts!
I love the quilting on your Insanity quilt. Is it on a big frame? I have a nice frame…holds a king size quilt…but I have such trouble hand quilting away from myself and to the right. I can only quilt toward myself and to the left. I would love to use my frame!!

  5. yes Bren I have a big 3 roller quilting frame – if you go to this link you can see me putting the quilt on the frame.

  6. (Bowing several times chanting “we’re not worthy, we’re not worthy”) WOW! Ok, so I just started learning to quilt and sew 3 months ago. I only hope I can one day make something 1/8th as awesome as that quilt. Wow… I’ve been loving the small shots you’ve been sharing since I just reading your blog, but jumping the link to the full quilt on the frame, wow. Ok, closing mouth now and going back to learn to stitch a straight line so I can match corners perfectly… :) Veronica

  7. thank you Veronica :) for the compliments! give yourself time – you will here in no time at all. I have a couple years on you for practice

  8. Thanks for the link. Your frame looks a lot like mine. How did you learn to quilt away from yourself? Do you use your thumb? I am SOOOO tempted to get my frame set up, put a quilt in it and start to practice.

  9. Bren I decided to do a post on that question – just put it out. I have had my quilting frame for about 12 or more years now – maybe 14? and I have lost track of how many quilts I have quilted on it – it just takes practice – once you get the hang of it you will love it.

  10. You are really going to town on the quilting! Congrats on nearing the half way point!
