While the kids have been in school I have been busy piecing the quilt top “So Charming”.  Only problem is now that I have it pieced – except for the black polka dotted border I see that I have two red dotted squares fairly close to each other.  I’m wondering if I will pick that out and maybe just turn that section of three rows around (bottom row to the 4th row if you know what I mean).  Why is it you can stand back and look at something numerous times and not catch that – maybe because I laid it out on the bed in the camper and not on a design wall?  :)

See what I mean - the red polka dotted squares in Row 4 and then again at the beginning of Row 5

See what I mean - the red polka dotted squares in Row 4 and then again at the beginning of Row 5. So what do you all think take the row off at 4 and 5 - turn the bottom 3 rows around and then sew it back to row 4? Or leave it?

It has been rain here off and on all day.  I’m so glad I got a walk in around the neighborhood this morning around 10 as it started to rain shortly after I got back.  I only did 30 minutes before a light mist started so I headed back – I did get in a good 40 minutes or so.

We are making cookies tonight – peanut butter chocolate chip.

  1. That has happened to me before too. But you know what if you had not pointed it out, I wouldn’t have seen it right away. This is one of those times you have to ask yourself, what will the quilt be used for, will it continue to bother you, and is it is easily fixable? I am sure whatever you decide will work for you in the end. It looks fine to me now.

  2. I agree, I couldn’t see it until you said “polka dot.” I would leave it unless it will drive you crazy.

  4. thanks ladies – yes I will leave it be and start on the final border tomorrow evening. Tomorrow will be busy for awhile with karate lessons and lunch out – won’t be in particular what I want :) but think 9 and 7 years old — Micky D’s most likely or something like that!

  9. Glad you decided to leave it…its a really cute quilt and actually, I like the polka dots being in the middle of the quilt-very lively!

Sounds like you’re having a good time with the grandkids-now, they’re really cute! :)

  10. thanks Miri – I’m glad I left it alone and just finished it the way it was. Sometimes I think we kind of pick apart our work too much!

  11. I’m glad you decided to leave it. Because if you start looking at the polka dot, then you’ll start looking at the reds, and then the blues, and it will just snowball :-)

The receiver/user of the quilt will just be happy for such a wonderful piece of craftswomanship!
