I am going to be out of town tomorrow for most of the day so I will do a quick announcement for the give away first thing in the morning before I take off. I need to drive to visit my mom and take her to a medical check up appointment. Little sis usually takes care of this kind of thing but she is under the weather and I’m her back up
I had planned on visiting soon anyhow so this decided what day to go. Mom is two hours away from me and bad luck is that it is supposed to rain tomorrow so driving will not be fun – nor will getting the wheelchair in and out of the car! But needs to be done.
I managed to get 3 more blocks done last night – it seems like it is always 3 blocks before I quit! Maybe that means I can finish the last block and two triangles for Row K tonight? Hope so.
I told you all awhile back that I wanted to learn to knit – well today after stopping by the library for a couple books I ran over to the knit shop to talk to the friendly ladies and see what they had. After talking to them I decided to make a simple scarf for winter first. I need to learn how to read a knitting pattern & instruction and just a general run through to brush up on knit, purl and get the technique going. I have knitted in the past but it was years ago (unless you count the one attempt I made about 3 years ago when a shawl kind of turned out looking like an afghan LOL – really). I learned basic knitting back in high school and we don’t want to remember how long ago that was!! Kind of getting close to 40 years — OMG — has it been that long
LOL I can’t believe it, it seems like just yesterday!
the pretty blue variegated yarn and the supplies needed. Also with this scarf pattern are fingerless gloves, a hat and leg warmers -- people still use leg warmers? thought those went out years ago. Actually I liked a different hat that was displayed in the shop and if the scarf turns out I might give the hat a try.

Good luck for tour knitting project. Usually i don’t knitt, i just know the basics, and when i want something knitted i just ask me unt to knit or my mother. They are great knitters! No matter what just have fun doing it! Can’t wait for the winners announcement!
I’m always so impressed with the quilting you’ve done on the Insanity, knowing how small the block are. Good luck with the knitting…it’s be 40 years for me too, how depressing LOL.

well I thought by practicing on a piece of practice yarn at the shop yesterday had me clear on “casting on” but that wasn’t the case. Last night I got the yarn out to cast on my stitches and it was like it went right out my head how they had shown me the proper way to do it. There is a knitting site with videos that show so later this evening when I am back home I might have to sit and watch it if that doesn’t help it will be back to the shop for me for another tutorial. The way I thought you do it wasn’t the right way.
ooh, these quilt blocks are wonderful Karen! pleased you are learning to knit, I love it tho haven’t done any for years, maybe soon when I find time, I think you will enjoy it. Look forward to seeing your scarfe, hugs Nettie
I tried knitting again a couple of years ago. I just could not get it. I think I will stick with quilting. The blue yarn is very pretty!
Love all your Insanity blocks!! You are really getting alot done!!!
Karen, I love knitted things but only knew how to crochet. Finally learned how to caste on then learned an even better way to caste on that keeps the stitches more even. Made a pair of mittens and then some squares for the Linus Project. But I was not happy with the way I knit. So I got someone to show me the continental way and, since the tension is formed on your left hand (if you are a righty), it worked out better for me. Anyway, it took a while before I got comfortable with it. Now the problem is I have not knitted for a while. Quilting instead. Don’t you find it hard sometimes to decide which “craft” to work on? From your blog it appears that you are pretty good at parceling out your time to really get things finished. Good luck with the knitting. It does make for a nice carry around project and for making gifts.
