We lost our internet for awhile yesterday so I was not able to get on last evening and post photo’s of the new dining area set.  We drove over to Conway to pick it up and then Mike set to putting it together.  They of course put it together for you if they deliver it, but if you pick it up the table comes ready for you to assemble.  It took a little while but did not give Mike a lot of trouble.

the table in place

the table in place and as you can see I did move the wall hanging up much higher on the wall and think it looks much better that way. The set takes up more room than I wanted but it will work out.

Under the table is a storage area for tablecloths, napkins, placemats ect.

Now the kitchen/dining area is finished.  I would love to replace the floor too but that isn’t going to happen for now!  I think my remodeling of that room is done.  I do plan on making some placemats to use to keep the table top in good condition.  Heaven knows I have plenty of fabric to use and batting scraps too!

I got more work done on “Insanity” lat night – moving right along an the hand stitching.  The scarf is just about complete too.  It feels good knowing I am about done with some projects.

Yesterday the weather was unbelievable and I wish I had been outside more than I was.  It got up to 76 degrees and the sun was shining.  I’m not sure but I think it will be more of the same today but maybe just a tad cooler.  I intend to be outside more today now that we have the table taken care of.

  3. I love the table!

Have you thought about laminate flooring for that area?! It’s cheaper than hardwood and IMO just as nice!!

  5. I like the style of your table and chairs. I need a new one since I remodeled the kitchen 3 years ago but I haven’t actively looked for a set yet.

  7. I also think that the wall hanging looks better higher up on the wall. Love your new dining set. The finish is gorgeous and the styling is unique! Also, love the scallops on Insanity DJ quilt. You are really moving along quickly on that. Congratulations on a job well done! I hope you enjoyed the journey.

  8. that is a cool table… the storage is a plus…

  9. yes the storage is a plus – now I need to make up a bunch of placemats, I haven’t bothered with using placemats in a long time. Placemats will keep the table protected and I have plenty of fabric to use :)

  10. Hey Karen, The wall hanging looks so much better now. It’s in the perfect spot! Really stands out. I also like the table and chairs (kind of mission style perhaps?) but I also love the piece of pottery in the middle of the table! Did you get that on one of your trips? It really looks nice on the dark wood and the brightly colored runner. Well, now that the kitchen is finished you can concentrate on your quilting. Oh and nice job on the scarf. Your hands are never still!!!

  11. I realized the first time after we hung the wall hanging it was too low and so agree with all that it is better higher up the wall.

We got the dining set at Oak Express a part of the store that is called “Furniture Row”. There were several others there that had storage of some sort under the table – maybe that is a new design flare now.

  12. Love the table set Karen. Now you just have to instruct everyone NOT to use the storage area as a foot rest….especially grandkids LOL.
