It rests in my lap while I'm sewing and then I put it on top of my little thread cabinet when not in use. Maybe you have a very heavy hand when pressing LOL. I don't have one of those, just an ironing board and a tiny board that I got at goodwill. Lay bricks or something equally heavy on the ends and let it stay in the sun and get really hot.
