Here I am having a give away (ends Friday) and I keep entering into other peoples give away’s and I won two of them in the past 2 weeks. Both arrived today. I won the package of six fat quarters and the most darling scissors I have seen from Christine at Aunties Quaint Quilts in Tasmania Australia and I won a book and 5 fat quarters from Colletta at Collettas Kitchen Sink in Pennsylvania. Here are photos of my wins — thanks to both you for the nice gifts.

a close up of the scissors - aren't they unique!

my other win from Pennsylvania, I haven't tried this author so looking forward to the new read.
I have no where in this house for a design wall so after much thought I decided to order a portable wall. It goes up when you need it down when you don’t. This works out well for me as with all the hand work that I do I really don’t need a wall all the time. Right now it is being put to use with the circles and four patches. It is time to sew them together so I have some of them on the design wall and go back and forth to the sewing machine with them. I don’t mind going back and forth as it keeps me from getting stiff and also gives me some exercise
I can go ahead and leave this up in the living room all week while I sew as it is pretty much just myself around most of the time as Mike is working long hours and isn’t home much this week.

what the wall looks like from the front with some of the patchwork on it.

this is what it looks like from the back - fairly easy to put together except the side clamps - I have to have my husband press those in place as my hands aren't strong and I can't seem to press hard enough - I will have come up with some method as he isn't always available when I might need to put it together. When not in use everything folds up including the poles and all goes in a drawstring tote bag. (as you can see from the walls in this room all those shelves and books, it is like that in a large amount of the house so no empty walls for a design wall.)
Don’t forget the give away ends on Friday.

Your circles and 4 patches are looking great…I’ve been tempted by that portable design wall before. Looks like it will work out great for you.
I love your rock fireplace, really pretty! Nice prizes too.

Hi, Karen
I love the blocks on your portable wall. It’s fun seeing your work and your beautiful house – thanks for sharing! Wow, you won some nice prizes, too. Happy sewing.

Looks like your blocks and circles are really coming together nicely. Gotta love that portable design wall!!! I could not fit my homemade one in my sewing room due to knee walls so it sits instead in my husband’s (my Mike!) office just inside the doorway from my room. And wow are you ever lucky this month! Love the scissors! I have gold ones like that but those appear to be pink ribbon design. I am just finishing up a pink ribbon quilt for a 40 year old woman from my church who has three young girls. Very tough situation. I am always so glad to see someone’s house with lots of books/bookcases. You can never be too thin, too rich, or have too many books, right?

Great design wall. It is nice that it is portable too. I have to say your house looks like mine with all those books. We just love to read too!!

I love the quilt so far. I like the design wall, I wish that I had one on the wall, I thought about making me one just have not had time. I am on row E. I believe you should buy a power ball ticket, you are pretty lucky.

Your circle and 4-patch are really looking good…I was wondering how they would go together. The design wall is great-I don’t think I have space for even a portable design wall-stuck with the guest bed,I guess.

Oh, I love that room. It sure looks inviting. A cup of tea, a comfy chair, a good book and a lap quilt…yep I’d site there too!
Love the idea of your design wall. Easy peasy!

Wow great wins Karen!! Your design wall is really cool, where did you get it? I have a friend that has no wall space too.

The design wall is from Connecting Threads on line. I have seen them on various sites and range in size from 12 inch or 18 inch at the smallest and I think they (or someone else)have them at 36 inch square also.

I’ve got to get one of those walls – I’ve been using my floor! (Not good!)

Wonderful blog you have. Love your design wall. I made one with PVC piping. Very easy to make. I then made what amounts to a HUGE pillow case type thing to put over it. I use batting, which allows the blocks to stick to it. The wall is just under 8 feet tall and just about 8 feet wide.
