As if I really need another quilt pattern!!  LOL  I saw a beautiful quilt on someones blog the other day and I tracked it down to “The Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Guild” in Springfield Missouri. (I have sent them a note but haven’t heard back).  They have the most beautiful quilt for an opportunity quilt for their 2010 quilt show in September.  If you want to buy tickets for a chance at it go to this link.  Go to the sidebar on that page and go to OPQG Quilt Show and it will lead you to how to buy tickets.  Here is a photo of the quilt — and does anyone know the name of the quilt pattern? – is there a book or pattern for it.  Please let me know if you know where the patterns can be purchased.  I of course want to put this on my “one day” list.  I will send for tickets – but doubt I will win and will need to make one for myself so help if you know the pattern let me know.  It looks like Hawaiian quilting doesn’t it – what do y’all think?  Isn’t it just gorgeous!

2010 Donation quilt for the Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Springfield Missouri. This has got to be one of the most beautiful I have seen in awhile. If anyone knows where I can buy the pattern please let me know.

Today when I met Julie for sewing I got done with one Dear Jane block and got started on a second one which I finished after I got home.   We had a good visit got caught up and had pizza delivered for lunch!  Good cookies afterward that she had made.  Today’s Dear Jane “Insanity Revisited” blocks:

Block #3 of Row 11 (rowK) yes it looks a little crooked - it will look straight once it is joined in the row and quilted :)

Block #4 Row 11 (K)

When I got home today my box of two quilters dream batting were waiting for me!!  yeah I can finally get that quilt pin basted and started tomorrow.

  1. I can’t help with any pattern info, but it is a truly gorgeous quilt. I especially like the fleur-de-lis shapes that make up the border.

  2. Wow, I love that quilt! But unfortunately I do not know what the pattern is… If I find out I will surely let you know. Doesn’t it feel good to get more of your insanity blocks completed?

  3. It kind of looks like a hawaiian quilt design. They usually do a whole quilt with a design but maybe someone reduced the size of the designs. Just a thought.

  4. That quilt was brought to my guild in Rogers Arkansas a week ago by one of the Springfield guild ladies. I do not recall her saying what the name of the pattern was, but different ladies did the blocks. The quilt was really pretty to see it up close and personal. I have enjoyed ‘lurking’ and reading about your quilt projects.

  5. I really love that pattern too!

i hope you find where you can buy it.

  6. I saw that quilt online too! I’m in love with it! I recognize some of the blocks as Elly Sienkiewicz patterns. Looks like a mix of Hawaiian and German paper cutting to me.

  7. The quilt is beautiful. I think it’s Hawaiian too. I remember years ago watching a Simply Quilts episode (I was an addict!) with Anita Shackelford demonstrating her method of cutwork, which was very similar to this. And definitely check Elly Sienkiewicz’s work too!

  8. I don’t know the pattern either but it does look like the folded cutwork that Anita Shackelford does. The one book I have of her’s doesn’t have all of these patterns, but a few are very similar.

  9. You’re making good progress on your little blocks. I think some of these patterns are in Papercuts and Plenty by Elly Sienkiewicz.

    Happy sewing!

  10. Karen, This quilt is definitely made in the “Hawaiian style” of quilt making. I have two books with these types of patterns in them. One is an Elly Sienkiewicz book called Papercuts and Plenty. There must be well over 60 individual patterns that are made by folding paper (like doing a snowflake when we were kids!!!), drawing the pattern, then cutting and unfolding the completed pattern. The other book is called Hawaiian Quilting by Elizabeth Root. Same technique, same results. There are more books on the market using this technique. These just happen to be the ones in my collection. They are older books so I don’t know if you could find these specific ones ….. hmmm, maybe when you go to Paducah, you will be able to look for something similar. Or maybe you could design you own blocks!!! If I were nearby, you could certainly borrow my books. Perhaps we could find a way to do that if you cannot find what you want. Good luck.

  11. Unfortunately I can’t help with the pattern, but it is a beautiful quilt.

  12. I have been told by Becky that she has the book “Papercuts and Plenty” by Elly Sienkiewicz and that the blocks are from this book that has about 85 patterns in it. Now the search will be on to find the lowest price of this out of print book.

  13. That’s an exquisite quilt! Thanks for sharing.

  14. If you can’t find a copy of Papercuts and Plenty by Elly S. there are alot of the patterns from that reproduced in Best of Baltimore Beauties, Part II. I think my local shop still has copies.

This quilt is gorgeous and does seem perfect for you…I did several of these papercuts for my Baltimore Album and I did like doing them-they are so easy to baste! I loved that I got right to appliquing!
