If you can't find a copy of Papercuts and Plenty by Elly S. there are alot of the patterns from that reproduced in Best of Baltimore Beauties, Part II. I think my local shop still has copies.

This quilt is gorgeous and does seem perfect for you...I did several of these papercuts for my Baltimore Album and I did like doing them-they are so easy to baste! I loved that I got right to appliquing!

I have been told by Becky that she has the book "Papercuts and Plenty" by Elly Sienkiewicz and that the blocks are from this book that has about 85 patterns in it. Now the search will be on to find the lowest price of this out of print book.

Karen, This quilt is definitely made in the "Hawaiian style" of quilt making. I have two books with these types of patterns in them. One is an Elly Sienkiewicz book called Papercuts and Plenty. There must be well over 60 individual patterns that are made by folding paper (like doing a snowflake when we were kids!!!), drawing the pattern, then cutting and unfolding the completed pattern. The other book is called Hawaiian Quilting by Elizabeth Root. Same technique, same results. There are more books on the market using this technique. These just happen to be the ones in my collection. They are older books so I don't know if you could find these specific ones ..... hmmm, maybe when you go to Paducah, you will be able to look for something similar. Or maybe you could design you own blocks!!! If I were nearby, you could certainly borrow my books. Perhaps we could find a way to do that if you cannot find what you want. Good luck.

You're making good progress on your little blocks. I think some of these patterns are in Papercuts and Plenty by Elly Sienkiewicz.

Happy sewing!

I don't know the pattern either but it does look like the folded cutwork that Anita Shackelford does. The one book I have of her's doesn't have all of these patterns, but a few are very similar.

The quilt is beautiful. I think it's Hawaiian too. I remember years ago watching a Simply Quilts episode (I was an addict!) with Anita Shackelford demonstrating her method of cutwork, which was very similar to this. And definitely check Elly Sienkiewicz's work too!

I saw that quilt online too! I'm in love with it! I recognize some of the blocks as Elly Sienkiewicz patterns. Looks like a mix of Hawaiian and German paper cutting to me.
