Christmas quilt and flowers

I have not done a lot of quilting or piecing this last week.  It has been so hot outside but yet I feel drawn to my shady porch and sit and read with an icy drink sitting on the table next to me.  I think it is because I tend to get quite chilly in air conditioning after awhile so I keep going out on the porch to warm up LOL have to have that A/C on though because of the humidity plus it is very hot this week – hovering around 90 in the shade of my porch.   I have gotten a little quilting done on the Christmas quilt and I think I mentioned I am half way there.

one of the sections I just finished. - coming along slowly I will have to work fast this fall when I get back home.

Here are photos of some of the pretty flowers I enjoy looking at from my perch on the porch:

The Tiger Lilies are opening - just a little earlier than normal - must be all the rain and the heat we have had. I have a lot more that will be blooming than normal. I'm glad they are blooming early so I can enjoy them. I do not know how many of these plants I have now and they all started from one bulb that washed in from a bad storm about 8 years ago - now at least over 20 and many up to 30 plants. The little black things you see on the stalks drop to the grown and from them little tiny bulbs form - so you can see why I have so many now. I am going to collect some off of these plants before we leave and scattered them in other parts of the yard so I will have more all over the place.

my purple coneflowers - this photo doesn't quite show how purple they really are.

double bloom lilies - kind of like two flowers in one, really like these and they all started with some that we dug up over 20 years ago on the side of the road someplace in the woods.
