(written on the 11th) We are at quite an isolated camping site. This place is called “Pathfinder Reservoir”, the camping is not quite primitive in that we have outdoor toilets and garbage bins. Other than that there is no running water anywhere in this park and no electricity! We are very near Independence Rock. The no electricity I understand as a lot of parks are like that but most have a water pump someplace. The plus side to this park is that we are camped above the dam and we are parked in the hard sand next to the lake – we have a picnic table and shelter, fire pit and we have our own beach. When we left our camp yesterday morning we had filled up our water tank and we also have jugs of water so we are set there. We will pick up more water later today.
There is no cell signal and therefore no internet service but I am using a program on the computer where I can type in a blog post in advance and then when we go to the town later today to get some groceries and water I can find a place to get hooked up and send out my post. You will not be hearing from me much for the next couple of days. I am doing another post that I will schedule. We plan on staying here at this campsite until Wednesday and then we will be moving on down the road. This campsite is only 90 miles or so down the road from where we were the previous two days.
The road was gravel coming in to the reservoir for about 5 miles – hard gravel not sloppy if you know what I mean. We have sage brush covered small mountains around with “real” mountains in the distance.
This next photo shows you how close we are to the lake. There are small gulls that swoop in to try to get fish which we have seen hopping up out of the water. We hear the water lapping at the beach.
