Jackson, Wyoming has been a tourist town for many, many years. Mike and I first came to this town with our older daughter who was about 6 months old at the time!! She is 37 now so that tells you how many years we have been coming to these parks and this town in North West Wyoming.
We got the laundry done – Mike found a new telephoto lens for the camera – we wondered around the town – separately, I wanted to shop to find a couple long sleeve t-shirts for the evenings (I somehow forgot those at home when packing, maybe because it was close to a hundred degrees when we left!) and Mike wanted to take photos. I took photos too in between wandering into shops
we met up at the town square after about an hour and then went grocery shopping and back to the park. This town has some really pretty sculptures scattered around the town and I took photos of some and of course the antler arches – the town square is known for the arches at each corner of the park.
A Grizzly bear:
A mountain lion:
Eagles and another bear:
A cowboy":
And the famous antler arches. Each year the elk loose their antlers. Some boy scouts and other groups of people collect the antlers out in the areas where there are elk and then there is an auction in town. People use antlers as bases for lamps, furniture, candle stick holders – I have seen a lot of things made out of antlers. They have a very rustic look to them. You can rarely ever get a photo of the arches without people in them, it is a popular photo area. Do you remember a movie that starred Clint Eastwood back in the late 70’s called “Every Which Way But Loose” with a orangutan as his sidekick? In that movie there is a boxing fight between Eastwood and someone else (I have forgotten who – Clint was the one I was watching
) the fight took place in the town square of this very town – filmed here also.

I love the sculptures. It personalizes a town so you won’t forget it. Of course only in the west would they have an antler arch. Amazing! I have never seen it before.

It’s interesting to see your photos and your point of view about Wyoming. We were there in May and had to follow a snow plow and an avalanche closed the road into Yellowstone an hour before we got there.
Loved the scenery and lovely, friendly people. Keep having fun and posting.!!
That antler arch is amazing! LOL That really made me smile, thanks for sharing!
