On the morning of the 12th we both work up early.  Mike was up and wandering around taking early morning photos at about 5:30. I couldn’t fall back to sleep so I was up by 6.  At about 6:15 AM I took this photo of the sunrise:

029

It was actually quite calm this AM – by the middle of the morning it was windy and stayed that way all day.  Here are some other photo’s of the campground on our drive back in to the park after a day spent out at Independence Rock and then in the town of Casper restocking groceries.

A little hazy but this is the road leading down to the campground and this is the lake with the mountains in the distance – the quality of the photo is not great.

This photo was quite a bit closer so the color is better – my camera doesn’t take distance shots well it seems.  Our camper is behind those trees down by the water.

This is what the land looks like leading into the area – very much a sage brush desert type of place.  The elevation is about 5,100 feet

On our drive out today (the 12th) we went to an area called “Devils Gate” again this photo is taken from a distance – I will have to see if the settings can be changed so the photo’s come out a little clearer.

I love the early morning photos! It just makes you wonder at the beauty of the universe doesn’t it?
Your journey seems to be along road less traveled as I don’t see vehicles around.
Love the adventure you are having.

Love your sunrise photo. And love to read your traveling writing. You are a good storyteller :-)

My husband’s father was born in Casper, Wyoming in 1917 then moved to Denver when he was in high school. His father worked for the RR and had gone west with that. The women he married was the daughter of the sheriff of Cheyene, Wy. Just a little family history.
Can’t wait to see your pictures of the Tetons. Maybe you will get some nice pictures of the moose there.

Don’t worry about quality of photos! Sitting here in the Chicago heat, that lake looks so wonderful. *S*

Once again, thx so much for taking us with you.
