Star Crazy

Here it is at the beginning of another month and that means it is time to work on the Star Crazy BOM once again.  I do not want to get behind and we are nearing the finish point on this quilt.

I have my instructions printed out and placed in the ring binder to keep organized.

Fabric is cut and ready to go for the first three of 9 blocks:

More is picked out and waiting to be cut and made ready.  I like to get all of the stars organized and cut the fabric and have it stacked up ready for the machine sewing.  It keeps me better organized:

This month we have 9 stars and 3 different styles of stars.  They will be easy once I get into the mood to sew them.

I have gotten a little more quilting done on the Christmas quilt and have given it another crank down of the roller – you can plainly see the end in sight now :)

All the comments on EQ7 – wow – let me warn y’all now I am not a fast learner when it comes to computers so do not expect any reviews anytime soon.  I am in no rush and I am not always interested in sitting in front of my computer when the weather is nice so I will work at it gradually.  I will tell you a quick little story though of my adventure of getting started and then you will see why a review won’t be coming anytime soon !  LOL

I got the program out of the box the other day and looked the book over before setting down at the computer.  Then I shut down all of the running programs as it said to do.  I inserted the cd and got the program loaded on my computer and all went well!! accomplished one thing.  I went to the videos so I could start to learn this program and that is where I started to have problems – I looked through one and then another – then I looked at Mike and said “how I’m I supposed to learn this when they aren’t telling me anything” he of course said “what are you talking about”  I told him I was watching the instruction videos but they weren’t telling me anything – he just looked puzzled at me for a minute and then asked “do you have your volume turned on?

DUH! – ok now see why this might take awhile :)

(I do normally have my volume turned on – but I had been looking at blogs shortly before that – I don’t know about most of you but I hate it when a blog has music playing – most of the time it is music I do not like or I already have music playing in the house because I want to listen to my music – so quite often I shut the volume on the computer off so I am not startled when music comes blasting out of someone’s blog – I just forgot to turn my volume back on LOL  )

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend – I have spent most of my time outside so far and not in the house at my computer or sewing – well get back to it soon I’m sure.

I think the only way to learn EQ7 is slowly. that way you can practice each thing over and over until you don’t have to look up the directions each time and it will become automatic instead of panic.

LOL. Sounds like something I would do (volume off). Enjoy your day.

That is such a beautiful quilt Karen! I had to laugh at your volume being off :) I agree, music on blogs, ugh.

Unfortunately, when I click on a blog that has music, I just leave and don’t bother reading it. I’m sure I miss some good stuff, but I always have my OWN music playing thru my speakers, so it really messes things up. AND those blogs load slower.

btw…..I had a heck of a time cutting the white in the star blocks this time. I realize, too, that I need to order more Kona Snow.

Your big quilt looks beautiful.

Oh, I can’t wait to see your Christmas quilt finished. I know it’s going to be beautiful. Love your story about the volume on your computer. I’m sure you amuse Mike from time to time like I amuse my husband. I do not care for music on blogs either and keep my volume off all of the time unless playing something I want to hear.

The weather is great. Have a great day!

Karen I love how organized you are with your binder – I need to do that myself. And I agree about the music – I keep the volume turned off on my computer because I usually either want the quiet or I already have music on. It’s very distracting when music comes on and I’m not expecting it! blessings, marlene

Your Christmas quilt is coming along nicely! Congrats.

I think winter is a good time to spend in front of the computer learning EQ7 – good thing Mike was able to troubleshoot your problem! That could definitely be me! LOL

Enjoy the beautiful weather we are finally getting.

I completely agree about the music: I keep the volume turned off all the time. When I started with EQ I spent no more than 30 min each time, just so I wouldn’t get tired of it. Slow is the only way to go.

Usually I’m quite organized, but now the binder is full of patterns etc, so I’ll have to buy another one to get organized with the heap of patterns waiting.
LOL! It could have been me with that volume thing…. When I discover I’ve done a blunder, I usually don’t say anything to hubby! :) ) But sometimes I’ll have to ask him if I’ve done it right…

Being organized is the way to go when you have a small area to work in like we do. I agree with the music on blogs thing, VERY annoying. It’s exciting that you can see the end of the Christmas quilt!!

You are making progress on several fronts. Maybe because you are so organized.

Karen, I am the one that found you the Felix fabric. I was onb the Hancocks board and saw your request still on there. It has my old e-mail on it so I am sending you my new one. Just in case you might need something else. Just copied the apple cake recipe . SOUNDS so good. Going to try it. Will check your site now that I found it again. Great quilts too. Even saw some of the felix fabric in one of the pictures. Glad I found you again. Dawn
