Yes I finish two projects ( Star Crazy is done – but not quilted) and I am already thinking of new things to do! As you might remember right around Christmas I won a $50 gift certificated from the Fat Quarter Shop – this is one of my favorite on line shops. Included in that purchase was some jelly rolls that were on sale.
I got 2 of the Lily and Will jelly rolls designed by Bunny Hill. Even though her style is not always my style I do like some of her things. I have in mind two baby quilts – one in the pink/browns and one in the blue/browns. Both will be patchwork with embroidery blocks scattered here and there. I am not sure what the embroidery blocks will consist of but I will start my search soon.
I picked up some embroidery threads to work with to go with my plan. Now I need to find some appropriate embroidery patterns for the little blocks – maybe some little rabbits, ducks, flowers ect. things like that – anyone know of some good sites for little designs – prefer freebies I’m also going to start looking at some coloring books and see if there are any with the right kind of stuff I am thinking of – I haven’t looked at coloring books for awhile so I’m not sure what all is out there!
I have not really worked a lot with embroidery in recent years but used to do it all the time. Lately I have noticed that on the Australian quilting sites a lot of quilters are combining embroidery with quilting and I like the look.
I am going to wait several weeks at least before I start either of these two baby quilts – I really want to devote a little more time on the red/green applique and the Going In Circles quilt. I have gotten a little more quilted this week and here are two photos of that quilt in progress – so many of these little circles I just love. Something about this one just strikes me – I love the color!
They are all so different – I get to enjoy the many different colors while I work.
