Star Crazy BOM–Finished!!

Wow at times I felt like I was never going to get all of the blocks sewed together – it was getting harder and harder to handle adding one more border and then one more and it seemed to go on and on!  The quilt does lay flatter than it looks – it is so hard to spread things out on the floor and get a good photo but my design wall was not large enough for the whole thing.

If I could do it over again I would change a few of the colors here and there.   In the photo I just couldn’t get the light blue star and one of the yellow stars to look dark enough – when it is right here with me looking at it- it seems to be darker. Some of the stars turned out lighter than I thought they would be, but overall I am satisfied.  I did finish a couple inches smaller than the pattern and I’m sure it was that my stars were not perfect – but it is a 83 inch square and I am satisfied with that.

When I go to the next quilt group I will try to get another photo – this one is with it laid on the floor – at quilt group I will see if I can get two people to hold it up and get another photo and see if that blue star will show up darker.

The quilt will sit in a plastic zip bag now for who knows how long before I get around to quilting it.  I have the fabric cut for the binding and in the bag with it – I do that with all my quilt tops if I want a special color for the binding – save it while I have it so won’t accidently use it for something else.  I have 2 other large quilts waiting in line – one day!  No more big quilts for me for the next several years (other than the red/green applique already started).

I already have ideas going through my head for the next child size quilt  – I need to get back to work on the big Going in Circles quilt on the frame – the red & green applique – but it sure is nice to have this big top completed – one more finish, even if it is not quilted Smile

The baby quilt currently being quilted is almost finished and hopefully I will be putting the binding on it this coming week and that one will be done too – It feels good to be having so many finishes!!

We were lucky enough to have some rain wash away most of our snow. Now the temps are moving to the single digits for the next several days. Only about 10 more weeks of winter here…… Even less for you………

Sour dough bread sure smells good. I must give that a try….

Your star quilt is really looking good…… You have accomplished a lot this year already. Congratulations………….

It came out wonderful Karen!! I solve the multiple border issue by sewing the border strips together first then attached the whole thing to the quilt.

What a wonderful finish!!!! You make me feel like a lazy slug and I should get busy (busier) with some of my projects. Thanks for the sour dough recipe.

Gorgeous! This is absolutely stunning! I just love the borders and color of the narrow inner border and outer border! When this was in blocks, I never expected it to finish up like this (don’t know what I expected!)
