It Was A Busy Day

The last two post that I had were both things that we did on September 9th.  We also drove to Cripple Creek from the National Monument that we visited.  It was close to the area.  Cripple Creek is an old frontier mining town that is now mainly a gambling town – full of casinos that have been created in the old buildings.  We rarely ever gamble but we walked through the town and looked around.  We ended up at having walked from one edge of main street to the other where there is a district museum.

We visited this area about 7 years ago before we had a camper.  We rented a cabin for a week and Mike found it again – here is where we stayed at that time.  The bedroom was up in the loft – downstairs was one room.

this is the road leading to it.  We had a fun week that year!

The driveway to that cabin! I’m sure glad we had 4 wheel drive at the time Smile

Well it was nice looking back at where we spent that vacation – now on to Cripple Creek down the road a ways.  The town of Cripple Creek we parked down a short way in front of that red truck and walked all the way to the end of the town and then back.  I think we got in our exercise today!

The district museum is at the end of the road in the photo above – here are some of the things in it – a washing machine! I’m glad I don’t have to use one like this.

More on the museum for the next post or this one will have way too many photos to get posted.

(this post is scheduled – this was the 3rd place we saw on Sept. 9th)

Karen-
When I was a teenager on a long trip to northern Quebec, with an aunt and uncle, I learned a song about a “desperado from Cripple Creek way down in Colorado…” My uncle loved it and we sang it for hours much to the chagrin of my two bratty cousins and my aunt. NOW I have actually seen Cripple Creek thanks to you. My uncle would have been as delighted as I am. Continue the adventure and be safe.
Cheers,
Helen (Nanci’s P.T.)
P.S. no need to email me back. I will follow you at your blog.

Lovely dresses! That washing machine does look a bit complicated.

How is the weather? We fly out on Thursday for Denver and the Coal Creek Canyon area. The forecast shows a bit of cooler weather coming to Colorado on Thursday and for several days thereafter. I am so excited to get out of this Texas heat!!! Looks like you guys are having a good time. Take care.

I loved the museum. People were so much shorter then weren’t they? Look at the detail work in the dresses. Didn’t know visiting such a museum would be so exciting. Love the song Cripple Creek, not the same as Helen’s camp song, but the city must be famous!
