Binding

quilts

I machine sewed the binding onto the Farmer’s Wife this afternoon and I will work on the hand stitching tomorrow at our quilt group that meets once a month (there are several quilt groups that I sometimes join in once a month).

Instead of making the binding 3/8th of an inch wide I decided to make it a 1/2 inch instead.  That does make it look more like an additional border in a way.  I just have 3 binding clips folding it over right now to show —

This morning at the weekly quilt group I brought my box of triangles to hand piece (remember I quit doing it the English Paper Piecing method) – it is moving along slowly – I don’t know at this point how big this quilt will be.  I have not been able to maintain my interest in it for some reason.  I some how think this hand piecing project might end up being a machine piecing project instead Smile or maybe I just need to work on it more than once a week to get motivated!!

Only problem with that is all these already started projects to continue making.  One day I need to get the Red and Green Applique out and get busy on that final border as well.  One day, one day, one day – too many things going on!!

I get side tracked too easily.  I have not worked on Joseph’s Coat in a week at least because I was busy finishing up Farmer’s Wife – which will be finished this weekend!!  Hallelujah a finish in another day!!

So currently in progress:

Pineapple Square Wall Hanging – applique left to do

Joseph’s Coat – a lot of piecing left to do

Star Crazy – a lot of quilting left to do!

Triangles – hand piecing – or will it go to machine piecing?

2 small quilts waiting in line to be quilted

2 large quilts waiting in line to be quilted

Red and Green Applique – border to be appliqued

Ideas for about 20 more in my head!!

Will I find the time?  Who knows – I will try to finish at least one more before I start a new quilt top!!  What is waiting in line for you to work on?

I have numerous projects to finish up, too. Just use the “salami” technique – one slice at a time.

I empathize with you and your triangle piece. I just had a hard time seeing to whip stitch those triangles together. That’s how I ended up with a smallish tablerunner! I love the way yours looks, though.

It’s so nice to see your spring pictures. Our daffodils are about 4″ out of the ground, and the lilac and flower crabapples are beginning to show green tips. Still, we worry that it will snow on top of them. It has been a warmish month, meaning that maple syrup production is down. Glad I got some at the end of last season. It will be a lot more expensive this year.

That’s a nice border/binding! I really want to do some hand piecing and have in mind either Farmer’s Wife or Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler…. I even have fabrics for it… But, then there’s the darn UFO’s and always new projects – never ending story – lol! I have 3 big quilts to finish, hand stitch the binding on one of them and add the binding to the other two… 6 place mats and a table topper to handstitch the binding, more quilting on the Colorado Star quilts (the second one and a matching table topper not sandwiched)…. Two other quilts where I have to piece together the blocks… and the blue one I just started… Phew! Those are what I can remember now…. And then; all the projects in my head – lol!

Too many ideas to even conceive. My list of UFO’s or WIP’s is growing also. I do believe that Deb’s list is a little longer than mine. lol But, like Regina, I’m a happy bird. I may need to update my list on my blog. I showed them a month or so ago, but I think a found a few extra since then.

    Have a great day!

I think over all we are all pretty happy with what we do aren’t we – even if it takes awhile to get some finishes!
