Well I haven’t done any quilting today but I have finished my laundry – stayed off the computer for a couple hours – read part of a book – and found an applique design for the borders of Pineapple Square! I even got to work on it.
I don’t know about you guys but when I make bias vines for applique if I have decent sizes leftover I save them. I wrap around cardboard and put it in a drawer – I didn’t know which drawer it was in but I quickly found it. I had plenty for this little project. Saved me time, I’m so glad I had them leftover.
With the borders attached. I had to put it on the floor so you could actually see it – the borders blending in with the design wall too much to show up.

Bias Vines – I’m not sure which quilt I had used these vines on, but I had plenty leftover for a small project. I cut the vine 25 inches and then ended up trimming a little off on each side but I wanted to make sure I had enough for all sides before I got started. There will be a set of 3 leaves on each end and 2 flowers in the middle with 5 petals. The middle is shown in the book with a button being the center instead of a fabric circle. Seeing as this will be a wall hanging and not a quilt that a baby or young child could get a hold of I think I will look tomorrow at Hobby Lobby and see what kind of buttons they have – I do believe there is a coupon out this week for 40% off – I will have to check on that.

Several years ago I had order 5 inch charm blocks from Connecting Threads (I just saw on CT that they now carry 104” wide backing fabric for $11.96 a yard, not really in the style I like but some of you might like it fine) from about 4 different collections. I have enough of the batiks to make the flowers and the leaves. The book I found the applique design in is from Cynthia Tomaszewski – “Garden Party” pattern is on page 34 called Heart Strings.

I love pineapple quilts. I made one a long time ago using only neutral fabrics, and my daughter requested it to be saved as a wedding quilt. A great way to use up scraps, too.

I really like the size of this one. I like small projects and it is very pretty.
the book is out of print – I just checked and Amazon.com has a lot of used copies of the book.
