I’m On A Roll

Circles are made!  I will possibly sew these on tonight – maybe some, maybe all.  I have quilted a little on Star Crazy today as well and might try to get in another 30 minutes or so of quilting this evening.

The rest of the colors.  I think I will be using most or all of these colors for the final part of Joseph’s Coat –   I think these colors will be enough but as I go I will know if I will need to drop any colors out or add any more in.  I thought I had some “green-green” colors but I don’t have any – these will have to do.  That one piece put aside to the right – I love it and would like to use it, I might use it on the very end corner – but I will wait and see if I think it will look right when I get to the corner.  I really like it.  But most likely it won’t go right as it is such a mixture of colors.

I am currently working this section of Star Crazy.

Row Attached

These rows are definitely getting shorter!  I started the sewing last night and worked off and on all morning on getting this row done.  I took it outside to try to get a photo but it has been little bits of rain off and on all morning so I couldn’t spread it out in the sun on the grass – the grass is wet!  I spread it out on the deck where it was dry but a little bit of shade already in this spot so part of the quilt is in the shade.  I used the flash so the shade on the right side of the quilt doesn’t seem to be showing up in the photo Smile  As you can see the rows are for sure getting shorter!!  I need to make 15 black circles this time and get those stitched.

Next up for sure is the last that will have any purple in it as you can see I do have to get busy on the blue so that I will have room left to do greens.

But I’m taking a break from this now and doing some other things for awhile – back to sewing/quilting later today.

Design Wall Monday

What are you going to be working on today?  – head on over to Judy at Patchwork Times and see what everyone is working on.  Me – Joseph’s Coat this Monday and for the first half of the week. The second half of the week I will be visiting family.  My sister and brother who both live in Maryland are flying in on Thursday for a visit – we are all meeting in NW Arkansas where most of the family live.  Mike is staying home seeing as he is back to work.  I will be gone Thursday to Monday morning.

I will bring my computer along but haven’t a clue if I will have anything to blog about – when all of us sisters (4) get together there is a lot of talking going on! Shopping, eating, family gatherings – you get the picture?  We haven’t had all 10 siblings together in town at the same time in about 4 years – one of my brothers though is on call for the weekend and lives 50 miles from the rest of them, so I don’t know if it will be 10 or 9 of us and of course some of the spouses, a lot of the “kids” several generations and my mom.  Not the whole family but a lot of us.

Joseph’s Coat –  this purple row finished – now to connect the row.  I keep telling y’all this row is purple and really truly it is – I am trying another setting here, on my computer it looks more purple than it had – on your?  Now though the other colors don’t quit look right.

One of my readers – Wanda from Exuberant Color says to try laying  something gray behind the color and see if the purple will show better –and I am using that setting from the upper photo – it looks more true to the color in this photo.  The next two dark colors – the first one on the left is purple the next a blue/purple and then the next are blues.  They will be the next four colors used.

I think I have 14 more rows to go but it is hard to judge for sure unless I lay it all straight out and see it flat.  I might do that when I get done stitching this row down – I will take it outside to the deck and see if I can get it all flat and start counting – Maybe with the lighting outside I can get the colors to turn out right.

Have a good week!  Can you believe it is May tomorrow!!!

Ready to Lounge

Be right back  The porch is cleaned off, the cushions are on the chairs, the flowers planted, the ferns are hung – now all I need is a tall glass of lemonade and my kindle – let summer begin – but please no heat wave!

A partly sunny area but mostly in the morning – shade the rest of the day.

Nice deep shade all summer long – I must find cushions that fit these old chairs better!

The clematis that I planted some years ago are finally taking off this year and I have had more flowers on them then ever before.  It has never wrapped itself around the flower pole before.  The climbing roses are so tall already and have a lot of blooms.  I believe these are called Lincoln roses but I’m not sure – I have had one of the plants for about 28 years now and the other about 25 years.  Sometimes they get too many aphids on them and do poorly but none so far this year and none at all last year.

This one is doing well too, it has never had so many blossoms on it.  I guess they need to age – of course I bought these plants on sale about 3 years ago and they were on the shelve that was probably going to be tossed out if no one bought them – I brought them back to life! Cost $1 a plant Smile and I have these 3 and another 3 over in the other part of the yard – the one in the corner though that is the biggest is the oldest and was a better plant bought about 2 years before this one and the others.

The roses right up on the deck this year.  What a wild spring we had – very good for the plants, extra warm and wet in March, cool April – good growing conditions.

And the little garden – see that gray bucket on the left – if you look closely you can see tomatoes growing.  I have 1 regular tomato plant the one you can see the tomatoes on, 2 Roma tomato plants and one of them has a dozen or so on already – 2 green pepper in one bucket, 2 red pepper in another, one bucket each of cucumber, yellow squash, and zucchini.  We are going to be moving the garden over a little bit though to another area near by that has more sun, this patch has more shade than wanted in the morning.  I forgot to take a photo of my potato plants – growing in the flower bed Smile 2 short rows of about 20 plants – I’ll get those next time.

What have you been up to this pretty weekend?

Joseph’s Coat

by Karen on April 29, 2012

Progress!  The last couple evenings I have been busy hand piecing on Joseph’s Coat and I am just about done with the purple row.  I can’t for the life of me remember how I changed the color the other day so this purple row was purple!  I changed something on the color setting and now it just looks blue – oh well – keep in mind it is actually purple!  The segment on the white square is what I am currently working on – I have one melon left to piece on it and on the blue square is the last segment to be sewed before attaching it to the main body of the quilt top.

I did get in a little more quilting on Star Crazy as well yesterday and a little progress made on that one.

Today I need to get busy on the plants and it looks like it is starting the week out hot and might get up to 88 today! Jumping right on into summer it looks like!  I better get busy and then be lazy in the heat of the day Smile

My Badge

My daughter Jessica has started a new blog recently and has gotten into making badges and made one for my blog which is now on the top of the side bar.  If you wish to grab the badge and put it on your side bar linking to me feel free Smile

Jessica’s blog is @Home Take 2  she is still developing it and changing it now and then – under construction I guess you could say Smile She is not a quilter but loves quilts!  She is very much into “couponing” and does some “mystery shopping”.

I have not done too much today – I guess I am recovering from my three days out of town.  I have worked a little on Star Crazy and a little on Joseph’s Coat and I intend to do more this evening.  I admit to having really slowed down on this one the last several weeks –

This much left to do:

Plants are next on the list – we stopped at Lowe’s earlier today for some building type of supplies and while Mike was getting his stuff I was getting some plants – potting is on the list tomorrow!
