First before I forget I was going to link to Bonnie’s post a couple days ago about what do you have on your bed and I forgot – I have my twisted stars quilt on my bed. Go to her link above and look at pretty quilts people have on their beds.
I finished up the first box of scraps this morning and also got out the next box. I didn’t have too much left to finish off this morning from the 1st box. This is the amount I got out of the first box – quite a lot! 5”, 3 1/2”, 2 1/2”, 2” & 1 1/2” squares – a pile of strings and a few odds and ends of 4 patches ect.
I opened box #2 and found this – I lifted out some of the folded fabric and then found a bunch of strings! I think about half the box was strings – that will make this box go faster to sort and cut.
My string pile grew to this! They measure any where from 1 inch to about 2 1/2 inches I think. I will probably cut the widest ones in half as I get ready to use them – not now.
For now I have folded them and placed them in their own box – and it is more than half full already.
And the box is now labeled.
this is the pile to get started on today from box #2. I was going to take a break from it and maybe get back to it next week but then after thinking about it I knew that if I took a break from it and put all of this stuff away it might end up being weeks or months before I get back to it. Might just as well keep working at it while I am in the mood.
I separated the whites/off whites in all of the stacks from the color squares and I will keep them separated now while I add to them. It will make it easier in the long run.
What do I have for works in progress (head on over to Lee at Freshly Pieced and see what ever one else is working on) I have been continuing to work on 3 things again all week – the Pineapple Square has been put aside for a little bit once again – I will get back to it – I promise.
Well first of all I will continue to work on scrap box #1 – I got a lot done yesterday – I am determined to finish this box – I don’t want it to take me a week to do each box but I know it just might! A pile of white and off white is left to do. I think I will separate the white and off white when I make up each box – I don’t know about you but a lot of my scrappy stuff is alternate squares – light/dark ect. it will be good to have them in separate boxes.
The stacks are this high now! I will have some whites to take out of these stacks but that is ok – I will do that when I start to put them in their own size boxes. I am picking up more boxes after I get done at the fitness center. They will be labeled with size square – for now the whites will just be stacked in the same boxes and as I get some emptied they will be moved into boxes and label – white 2 1/2” for instance.
I got a little more done on Joseph’s Coat and hope to do at least a couple more segments today.
And I will continue to work on Star Crazy – I managed to get in an hour of work on it last night and hope to get in another hour at least today. I need to finish up a little bit above the blue/green star and then move over
move over to this area – getting fairly close to being able to move the quilt down again – I hope to be ready to do that by Friday – progress goes kind of slow at times!
