Design Wall Monday

quilts, Scrap Organizing, weather

What am I doing today?  Hopefully working on all three projects!!  Head on over to Judy at Patchwork Times and see what everyone else is working on too.

First off work must continue on Star Crazy – final border – lets see how much of this quilt gets done this week – the end is near and I want to get it finished!

021

Joseph’s Coat – the row is sewed on – let the work on the circles begin!

020

A little more work on the scraps was done yesterday – I intend to add to this pile during the week.

022

Did you all have a good mothers day?  We had a nice fairly lazy day at home.  I helped Mike with a few things outside and worked on my quilts a little bit.  In the evening we lite a fire in the fire pit outside and enjoyed a glass of wine while watching a couple hummingbirds come to the feeder.

005

Don’t you just love these tiny little birds – love those beaks – reminds me of a needle.

019

The sun going down – looking out through the trees.

012

If we don’t get rain pretty soon we won’t be able to use our fire pit – it is very dry – we – in my little spot of Arkansas that is have had very little rain since the beginning of April.  It seems to be missing us – we barely had enough the other day to get the porch wet, I have been having to water my plants already!  I hope a burn ban doesn’t come into affect soon.  We have dry patches of grass – the hollyhocks were so dry this morning – I had forgotten them – the stalks of buds were drooping – I watered them and they perked back up but I shouldn’t have to water plants so much at this time of May.  No rain in the forecast for this week – please tell me we are not heading towards a drought.

Sounds like a fabulous day! What do you use to mark your quilting lines with?

Looks so relaxing! Love the hummingbird shot! We usually have so many hummingbirds we can’t count them! Can’t wait to get our “firepit” area in! First project for hubby when he retires at end of month!

I use blue wash out pens – not always the same brand – those like Mark B Gone and on dark quilts I use chalk pencils

I think all your rain has been dipping south and hitting us. We have had about 7″ of rain in the last 7 days. No complaints here, we did draught a few years ago and this is much better. Hope it rains on you soon.

That’s a great shot of the humming bird, and I love them too. Mike looks relaxed sitting in his chair, and who can blame him. It surely looks cozy!

Our porch was remodeled, to be enclosed, a few years ago. One of the humming birds that I’d see yearly would come to one of our rose bushes each evening. We saw it for the past few years… when the porch was remodeled the rose bush was moved, and so did the humming bird. Fortunately for us, we still get to see this beautiful bird, since it’s just on the other side of the house. Which is in perfect view of the tiny outside porch. :)

Your quilts are coming along quite nicely. It has to be thrilling being part of their progression. I’ve referred a few of the ladies, from my quilting group, to your site. Two of them make beautifully hand-sewn quilts also.

Wonderful quilting. I think that watching the birds is so much fun and to have humming birds….. very nice. The forests are dry here too even with rain and another fire is started. Hopefully you will get rain very soon.

Your three projects are coming along nicely. Hope the weather across the states is much kinder than it was last year too. Your fire pit looks so inviting not to mention your lovely yard. Raise a glass for me and enjoy your humming birds. Sandi

Wish we could share some of the rain we’ve had in May. Love the firepit.

Lovely photos, Karen. Do you find that the fire and smoke keep the black mosquitos away? They are awful already.
