A Little Shopping

I’m not much of a shopper but the other day I was in Hobby Lobby just wandering picking up some beads for the stilettos and saw 4 coffee/latte cups that I just had to have.  They were so cute.  Several years ago at Hobby Lobby I bought a cute set for Christmas use – 4 cups and 4 saucers and a little metal hanging rack to put them all on.  I like and wanted something to put on it for the rest of the year and not just use it at holiday time for 4-6 week.

My find – each cup is different and unique on its own.  Only problem was there were no saucers to go with them.  I like to have a saucer too to catch those little spills.  I looked a bit in stores and on line and couldn’t find anything the right size.  Today I happened to think – what about the antique mall in town – it is full of little booths all under the same roof – in a nice clean building that doesn’t smell musty – I hate those places – my sinuses go crazy.  I think it looks like I need to dust off that little rack before I forget about – I didn’t notice it until I saw the photo Smile

I found two different booths that had something that would work – but after going back and forth looking I settled on this one – 4 saucers – one yellow, green, pink, and blue.  I thought one of the cups had a pink rim but when I got home I see it doesn’t – oh well that is ok – they still go fine and just the right size!

I saw quite a few quilts too – I will post those tomorrow!

Now back to quilting – it is cloudy outside and humid today and will be for the next several – rain chances have increased and when I pulled in the driveway a little while ago it actually started to rain – for a minute Sad smile oh well, maybe later? I have to think positive!

Some Quilts

Last night there was a small group of us for quilting.  I think the heat kept some people home, some are on vacation – the way it is in summer for all of us.

Here are some of the quilts shown:

Some of the group made quilts from this pattern a year and a half ago or so – this particular quilt is hand quilted by the maker so it wasn’t finished quickly like some of them where – I apologize to whoever made this quilt – I can’t remember your name – sorry – I am so bad at names.  I see most of these ladies only once a month or two and have a poor memory for names.

A close up:

The same lady is making this top – she has one more border to add, this one will be machine quilted by someone as she says it is a present that is needed by Christmas and she knows she wouldn’t be able to finish it in time.

I brought my Star Crazy and Pineapple Square to show as I missed the group last month.

A cute baby quilt by a rather new lady to the group – Anice

another that I don’t know who made – sorry – we need to wear name tags!!  Just back from the long arm quilter and given back to the maker of the top.

That was it.  I left at 8 PM and it was still 102 degrees outside!!  We had notices from the water company delivered yesterday letting all know that we are now on mandatory water conservation – NO outside watering allowed – I guess now we wait and see what survives and what doesn’t.  Dish water and shower water will have to do – I will try to water what is closest to the house.
