Fabric and a Give Away

quilts

Maureen Cracknell Handmade is having a sponsored Give Away – she is giving away fabric from Jackie at Canton Village Quilt Works you might want to check it out if you want to try to win some fabric.  Seeing as I have won a little bit this year I thought I would help spread the word and of course it gives me an extra chance as well :)

We all just love fabric – well Elaine over at Faithful Quilter has so much she is selling some of her stash.  If you love Civil War repro type fabric she has it.  I’m just not in the market for the bundles she is selling but I thought some of you might want to check it out.  I actually won a big bundle of fabric from Elaine about 3 years or more ago and I made the big queen size quilt that is called Bowtie Medallion out of it along with some Kona Cotton Cream.  I have decided that it will be next to go on the quilting frame.  Her post is from the beginning of the month and everything on that post is still listed so it might still be available.

I know you guys won’t remember it as it has been packed away for about 3 years now I think – but this is it.  The fabric is civil war repro’s of course as that is what Elaine really likes Smile  This quilt is not going to have a lot of fancy quilting in it.  I’m not sure how it will be quilted – on the border though I might do a braid type of design – I haven’t decided for sure, I just know that after 3 years it really needs to be next.

I was just looking this quilt over and thought maybe I should add a little “country” type of applique around the border – not a lot – but something – I will have to think on that!

Oh well, I haven’t gotten any quilting or sewing done today I’ve been reading – I got the new J.D. Robb book – “Delusion in Death” and I think I am going back to it.

That is totally a ‘timeless’ quilt…..marvelous!!!! And I agree, a little something in the border would bring the eye outward and balance the beautiful design in the center. A more “country” flower/floral spray is what I can picture….I am sure many other ideas would work equally as well. Enjoy your reading…..it tough to keep up with all the interests we have, isn’t it???????? Hugs, D

Your Bowtie Medeallion quilt is beautiful! Great colors. If I had a new JD Robb, I’d be headed back to it too.:)

This is lovely! Funny, I just started a bow tie quilt also. It is muslin and civil war fabric also. The bow ties finish 3″. It makes me smile how the classics show up everywhere. I will be very interested in how you quilt this…will help me out when mine is done.

Thanks for the heads-up on the give-away and the sale. I checked them both out and entered the give-away and am thinking about the fabric sale. Not that I actually need more!!! I also agree that a little applique would really finish that bow tie quilt off nicely. Not too much; just enough.

Lovely I had forgotten this work from then. I think it will be fabulous when quilted. I don’t know why it’s been tucked away for so long. It looks large….
