Joseph’s Coat

Joseph’s Coat, quilts

Progress!!  Yes this quilt is coming along and moving along nicely.  In a way it seems like I have been quilting on this one forever – don’t know why – it didn’t go on the quilting frame until June 2 after all – that is only 4 months and about 1 month of that I wasn’t home between two different short trips. 3 months of quilting at almost 90 hours is doing great in my book when I remind myself that I used to at times take almost a year to do a queen size quilt and this year I will have completed two queen size hand quilted Smile

This is the area I just finished up quilting on yesterday.

This is what is left to do.  The end is very much in sight but this might still be some where between 30 and 40 hours of quilting to do.  I had thought maybe I could be done by the end of October – now I wonder if it won’t be into November?  I still would like to get done with one of the smaller quilts before the end of the year while I work on the applique border for the Bow Tie Medallion.

One might ask why push myself to get another small quilt done – simple – I have these left to quilt.

List to be Hand Quilting or possibly a couple small ones by machine

Bow Tie Medallion – 100 x 100 inches
Red and Green Traditional Applique –  100 x 100 inches
Dear Jane #2 – Insanity Revisited –  88 x 88? inches
Dizzy (Red/Black/White) square in a square – 65 x 75 inches
Pinwheels – 57 x 64 inches
New quilt with out a name at present – the triangles shown the other day – 55 x 68?

The smaller quilts I might use to try to learn how to machine quilt at least a little bit – I’m really not sure at this point – one of them will go on the quilting frame when Joseph’s Coat comes off of it if the applique on Bow Tie Medallion is not finished.

Works in progress:

X Marks the Spot – hand quilting in the hoop
Lucy BostonPatchwork of the Crosses – who knows what size it will end up being
Common Bride – at least 88 x 88 but I might put one more border on it to have it fit my bed – which means it would be 100 x 100
Applique on the Bow Tie Medallion
The skinny borders on the triangle quilt which I plan on doing tomorrow and then that will be finished also.

I had to really stop and think for a moment on the WIP’s – it seems like there is more – but there isn’t – weird.

I only wish I could quilt as fast as you!!!! My last queen size took me over two years but it was a whole cloth quilt. You are the fastest quilter I know. My brother -in-law’s grandmother could quilt a queen size quilt in six weeks but she had been quilting since the age of six. She did beautiful quilting just like you!!! I love seeing the progress on your quilts! It keeps me motivated. I don’t post on your site all the time but I check your blog every day and miss seeing your posts when you are gone! You don’t know what an inspiration you are!!! Thank you!!!!

It probably felt like more WIP’s because they seem to be able to breed like rabbits! Your Joseph’s Coat is looking great.

I don’t feel so bad now after seeing your lists, I’m slowly working away at reducing my lists, trouble is I keep adding to them with quilts I want to make. I don’t count them as a WIP until I have actually started them, it’s just forward planning when I have all the fabric and the pattern ready to start.
It doesn’t seem that long ago that you started quilting Joseph’s Coat, how time flies.
