Just a Little Note

in quilts

I mentioned the other day about a quilt pattern available on both the Keepsake Quilting site and Nancy’s Notions.  I found out from one of my readers that the wide difference in price of the Heaven and Nature Sing pattern by McKenna Ryan comes down to one thing – and it is a big thing, but I don’t know who would want to pay about $300 for that one thing.  In the Keepsake Quilting BOM the pattern is sold with the appliqué shapes already cut out and on fusible.  Nancy’s Notions is selling the patterns and a package of fabric for the quilt – but not the pre cut shapes.

To me that is not worth the big difference in price but to some of you maybe it is?  Any way thank you Penny for noticing what the difference was in those two patterns offered on two different sites.  I really would like to get the patterns but not at this time – I have too many projects going on as it is.

I think even the price of the pattern alone – without the fabric in the kit is crazy expensive. I realize it’s actually several patterns sold together but that’s such a big number for just patterns. But like you, I love the pattern too. :) I’d love to watch you make that one…

I suppose that the work put into a “kit” is so much different than cutting it yourself. I don’t have a Go Cutter either, so hand tools etc are what I use. I don’t buy patterns, as I subscribe to quilting magazines and get my inspirations from that. I don’t follow many patterns to a tee actually, as you know.

I have been noticing that there are these options with some kits being offered lately. The pre-cut/fuseable pieces or the fabric. As was stated, though, these prices have not been so drastically different. I receive the “Keepsake” catalog and love what I see but their $$$ seem to be higher to much higher than other places. I do understand from friends who have ordered fabric and kits from them that their service is excellent!

The other thing I noticed was that in Keepsake, all of the embellishments were included and it looked to be a lot. Those embellishments–crystals, etc. can be very pricey.

Nancy at the very bottom of their description of the package for monthly BOM it says the embellishments are separate. http://www.keepsakequilting.com/productdetail/5410.htm
embellishments : http://www.keepsakequilting.com/productdetail/3972.htm for $82.99 I believe at Nancy’s the package for embellishments was about $56
