I got no sewing at all done yesterday. I was out of town most of the day. I went to Little Rock for an appointment for a bone density test – I get them every couple years because of medication I am on caused osteoporosis (and it runs in the family) so it needs to be checked on a regular basis. The car needed it’s check up as well so two things scheduled for Little Rock on the same day is good – saves gas and I get in a visit with our daughter Melanie.
She took me to the new JoAnne Fabric store – well not so new anymore – I think it has been there for about 6 months or so but I have never stopped at it. It has so much more room than the old one did and looks much nicer. They do not carry the batting I like and that is about the only thing I really needed. I hadn’t stuck my coupon in my purse as I didn’t know I was going there and had left it on the sewing table. I got a couple little things but have plenty at home to keep me going for years to come ![]()
So both of the quilts are ready for binding and I’m going to get to it today. I want to get the binding cut, pressed and sewed onto both quilts leaving the hand work to get busy on.
The quilts:

The fabric for the bindings, several of the prints are in the quilt X Marks the Spot and the other ones match up fairly well. I believe I have enough of these – better get cutting now!

I love both the quilts which of course are beautifully photographed! I am looking forward to going to Joann’s in florida. just a bit different from my local Fabricland. I must say that the prices in the US are more than what I pay here on sale of course. I have been using bamboo batting which is $9.00 per metre(40″) and that is way cheaper than the $18.00 for warm and white.
Am thinking of heading to Gees Bend on our trip down to Florida…have you been there?
I love all of your quilts and read your blog on almost a daily basis. I’m curious as to what batting you prefer. I also hand quilt and have used Mountain Mist, but I would like to try something new. Any advice or recommendation would be great! Thanks!!
That binding fabric is going to be so perfect….on both! Will really give a wonderfully definite finish to the quilts! Congratulations!!!!!

Sure loving both those quilts! I see you did do more machine quilting on the Triangular quilt (known to me a Pike’s Peaks) and I am so glad you did. I think it looks better and will hole up much better too. Guess you won’t be machine quilting again for a while, huh? lol
I like the additional quilting you did on the triangle quilt. And you found some great fabrics for the binding of X Marks the Spot in your stash. Binding is my favorite stage of the quilt!
