Fall Clean Up

Joseph’s Coat, weather

This is going to take awhile – wonderful fall weather here and the leaves are all turning beautifully after having such a drought for most of the year we wondered if we would have a beautiful fall.  Pretty much all the trees are turning now and about half have lost their leaves and the rest of them will be losing theirs over the next month.

Clean up has begun – as you can see from all the leaves on the trees I will be working on this for awhile.  I try to get as many of the leaves out from the greenery planted near the house as I can.  Then later as I loose more leaves I will get the riding lawnmower out to mulch it all up – I will have to do that at least twice most likely and will be working on it well into December as that big tree in the middle of the yard doesn’t loose most of it’s leaves until well into the end of November.

It’s a job getting all the leaves out from that monkey grass – but I love the stuff so I put up with the clean up and try to do a little at a time.  I have tried the blower to get it all out of there but it just doesn’t handle it, I have to do it carefully with a rake.

The flowers in this basket are still blooming!

Hope everyone has been having a good weekend.  I have been getting in some of the embroidery and quilting in between other things.  Much more to do.

About another 6 hours of quilting and this one will be off the frame and on to the binding. I just gave it the last crank down – about six inches of width left to go all the way across.  I take it off of the last roller at this time because it just doesn’t roll all the way down for the area I can reach.  At this point it doesn’t matter – I just pin the top to the batting/backing combo and go from there.

I love autumns, but that is a season we don’t have here in the tropics. A few trees do loose their leaves during ‘winter’ though, but that is more on higher grounds. Remember all the clean-up/raking from the farm, it took days! 🙂 Wow! The last row to be done on JC’s! Great progress!

Wow! I really am proud of you working your way through that huge quilt. I’m not sure I would have the perseverance to push through. But I do know that it will be well worth it when you can take it off of there and put it on the bed. You do such lovely work. I enjoy following every stitch.

Your place looks so lovely!!! Here, it is definitely November…..overcast and no leaves on the trees. The corn was combined from our front fields so now we have our beautiful view from our livingroom window!

You have such a lovely home. I can share your pain with all of the leaves. It is great to have all of the shade trees, until the fall and then “the leaves”.
Both of you quilts are coming along nicely. Very beautiful.
