tn_FreeVintageImagesofChristmasClipArt3_jpgThe last of the appointments were finished yesterday – I got my new glasses picked out and got the mammogram out of the way.  I really didn’t feel like I had the energy to go to the quilt group this evening so I skipped out – I have been waking up really early lately and just felt tired.  I stayed home and worked on 3 different projects from late afternoon to evening.

Do you remember the Sedona Star that I mentioned earlier in the year that is from the Quilt Show –  AND – no I do not like these colors – I have intended to make it in white background and bright primary colors for the piecing and applique.  I finally remembered that if I wanted to make it I had to join  this last month of the year – pay 1 month membership so I could print out the second half of the BOM directions.  I had a gift of one month membership in May that I got from a special Code I believe it was – a promotion deal-  and saw the pattern and printed out January through May instructions then and realized that you do not have to join for a whole year – if you join in December the whole year of instructions are there available to you!  Anyone else doing this quilt or just about finished with it?

So last night while I was working on quilting and piecing my printer was very busy printing out monthly directions and templates!  All of this well get put in a second ring binder in plastic sleeve protectors so it will be ready and waiting for me when I am ready to start it – one binder is full from the first 5 months!  this is seriously a lot of paper but easier to just print the whole thing out then go in and pick and choose what pages really are not necessary!  considering I only paid $6.95 for a whole years BOM that isn’t bad.

EDITED @ 9:17 AM = I have had several people ask me already this morning how do I get an entire BOM for$6.95 here is how:  for anyone that is interested – if you go into the quilt show link that I have above– on the right hand side bar is a menu – select purchase a membership – it will lead you to another screen, it shows you can purchase 1 year membership, 6 month, 3 month, 1 month. I selected 1 month – then you can go to the BOM on their tool bar – select which one you want – see if it is still available – some of them are old and no longer there – the Sedona Star is good until the end of the year. You can then start with the first month and print out the directions and photos – all for $6.95 – the one month purchase. Also you can go look at videos and other things. I do not look at this site most of the year but for this one month I will get what I can out of it.  (the BOM is directions and templates – it does not include fabric).

I did get some quilting done on the Bow Tie Quilt while I was going back and forth to the printing  — done with this much last night.

And I got started on the second star block for the Common Bride – of which I was pleased to see that on the Quilt Show they have available to view an hour video from the designer of the Common Bride – Edyta Sitar – I started to watch it but wanted to get to my quilting so I will get back to it today possibly – it looked interesting to see how she works – and it looks like she lives in Montana – one of my favorite states for vacationing!  I will take advantage of as much as I can from my month membership of the videos ect. while I can.

I managed to get just a little more decorating for the holidays today – I hung up the wreath above the fireplace and on the front door – progress!  Tomorrow maybe I will get the decorations on the dining room table and the table topper and the decoration for the coffee table and the covering for that table as well.  This weekend I need Mike to get the other stuff from the second floor of the workshop – I can’t manage those boxes and my arms aren’t strong enough anyhow to wrestle them down those steps and into the house – that is my man’s job Smile  and I still am not in the holiday mood!!  Maybe after the tree is up?

Don’t forget the anniversary of Pearl Harbor – December 7th, 1941 – what a sad event in history! 71 years ago – wow

  1. I generally don’t like the pointed thing in the center of the block. I like different colours too. Ok, it isn’t something I would love to do…are your surprised?

  2. You still get a lot done even when you are tired and stay home :)

  3. Love the colors you picked for the next block on Common Bride!

  9. A friend of mine has a membership to The Quilt Show, I thought about it but I spend enough time on the internet as it is, but this 1 month membership might be the way to go, especially over Christmas when I have a bit more time. Loving your batiks on the second star.

  11. I’m sure you’ve probably answered this before but I haven’t been able to find it. What kind of marker do you use to mark your quilts for quilting? I’ve always used pencils because I’ve always been terrified a bright marker wouldn’t come out completely. Having followed your blog since the beginning of Joseph’s Coat I can see that you don’t have a problem with it. So I thought, if you don’t mind sharing, I might try the same marker(s). Thanks and keep up the beautiful, inspiring work!

  12. I use Mark B Gone pens or similar pens – they sell under a lot of different names – just make sure to wash your quilt when you are done and the lines go away – I have never had any come back.

  13. I did the same thing with the Sedona Star. I bought a 3 month for the instructions. I also purchased the machine embroidery from Sarah’s website. Like you, I’m not so hip on the colors so I’m switching to a black background with all of the other bright colors. Be sure to post pictures as you go. I’m hoping to start my adventure in the next couple days.

  14. …another Miriam here!

Thank you for the information about TQS and their Sedona Star BOM. I have just joined and I have started printing out the instructions…ohhh yes, lots of paper!!!
I will also choose my own colours. Have you started yet??

Thank you also for the marking pen information.
