Time to put the sewing machine away after having given it a work out these past several weeks and let the hand work begin once again! I’m ready for it – believe me.
As soon as I got done with the quilting on the Tumblers I went ahead and got the binding machine stitched so it would be ready for hand work and also so I could clear off all the stuff off the table and get the room back in order! It drove me crazy working in a overcrowded space.
Binding part way attached! I got Netflix on yesterday afternoon to try out a show Wanda at Exuberant Color told me about called Doc Martin and I thought I would give it a try. I sat down and enjoyed the bliss of hand stitching with a tv show on in the background, something I do not do when working with the machine.

Then for a change of pace I got the Patchwork of the Crosses out and started to attach the newest row that I finished on Friday last week.

I got the William Morris in Applique book back out last night to give it a look over. I had thought to do this quilt with lighter colors – pastels but the last several weeks I have been rethinking that. I might mix and match the pastels with this brighter color bundle that I was going to use in Sedona Star but I have changed my mind already and that quilt is no longer on the plan for this year – something about it doesn’t sit with me right and I might not make it at all. This William Morris quilt top is a good large wall hanging size – about 65 x 65 I think.

Next up – back to work on Common Bride – a mixture of hand piecing and machine piecing right now. I have not worked on this quilt top since early December I believe maybe even November.

And last but not least – back to hand quilting the Bow Tie Medallion – a little at a time – and let’s see how the fingers react. I left off on it in early December – so I will pick back up with it here – I have a lot of work left to do on it and at the rate I have been going it will be well into summer time before I get done with it.

All of this should keep me in hand work bliss for sometime to come!

I am so excited.. I get to hand quilt today lol. I haven’t had a chance to do any since Friday. Hubby was home all weekend (and the quilt is a surprise for him) then Monday and Tuesday I had other obligations away from here. Today I am home all day and can work on it. So I fully understand the bliss of hand quilting. So very relaxing to me. I also like the tv on in the background when I do hand work, but have to concentrate so hard on the machine that I can’t have it on.

I think a good mix of those 2 bundles would make the quilt more exciting, and maybe adding in some from your scrap boxes too. Are you doing a black background, or another dark color?

Wow Karen, you have quite a few projects going on! I envy you your enjoyment of hand work… if I could learn to love it I could free up so much space in my house! There are times when I think I might just stop quilting because it’s taken over my home! LOL

Can’t believe how fast you did the tumblers quilt, it turned out lovely. I have been doing hand embroidering, but its been slow going, but very relaxing. Question: when hand quilting, how do you hid your knots?
