My earliest flower is always my earliest variety of daffodils. I love them because they bring early color but also because it reminds me that spring is really just around the corner for my area of the United States -
I have had a bit of a sinus headache all week – allergies already? I don’t know but Mike is bothered also – I wish I could shake it off. I took a walk around the yard earlier to get some air and hoped it would help clear the head – it didn’t but I had my phone in my pocket so while I was picking up some dead branches in the yard I also stopped to take some photos and clear off some of the dead leaves from the daffodils – some are a bit yellowed right now but they will turn green now that the leaves are off of them.
I have some buds already on some of them.

I don’t know if you can see the hanging part of this hanging pot sticking up out of the leaves? In the very late fall I decided to put my two hanging ferns up against the workshop and cover them thickly with leaves and see if I would have my ferns alive this spring.

Uncovered to check and covered them back up again - I can see some green! hopefully they can make it through February and March and I will uncover them and hang them back up –
they might just make it.

Spring, spring, you are kidding. Can I come live with you. We are still in the depths of winter. It is soooooo cold. I envy you the buds of spring.

Well, you ARE lucky! We are having below zero temperatures but lots of sun. It is deceiving. The minute you step outside, you go right back in again. It’s amazing to see you crocus coming up already.
I’ve been sewing fabric grocery bags today. We are going to sell them at our quilt show in April as a fund raiser. Someone gave me some upholstery fabrics – they are making some very wild bags!
On my blog, you can see the Woven Strips quilt I just finished. I machine quilted it using a grid pattern. Next, I’m going to start on the middle third of my Cornucopia of Thanks quilt. That is going to take a little time. I am getting more used to machine quilting, and I generally do use the same cotton thread in the top and the bottom, although sometimes it’s a different color. I often use gray Aurifil. I did use some poly (bobbin and top) for my stack & whack last year. That’s because I couldn’t find a light enough peach. There are some very pretty polyester threads out there. Whatever works and looks good is my motto. Your Common Bride quilt is really lovely!
Come to northern NJ; it’s nice and freezing here. Our crocus are hiding; they’re terrified of this weather.

Our temps goes up and down. Now it is up. It is ingenious that you buried the fern pots and they lived!
You are too smart!

Spring is a wonderful time of the year. We don’t have the four seasons here, just hot or cooler.
Way to hot and humid this time of the year. Two more months to go and it starts cooling down – can’t wait!
I hope your ferns will make it, they are so beautiful.

That’s crazy! We’re getting more snow today and the ice hasn’t even completely melted off the roads from the last snow.:)
Isn’t it wonderful when signs of Spring start to appear? We had a cold snap come through a week ago here in Arizona. Froze a lot of our plants and citrus trees. Then today it was over 80 degrees. Yes!
I think you have been transported to another planet!!!! LOL!

Pretty sure it is going to take a while for spring to get here to WI. I’m ready for a warm up and for our colds to all be gone… and spring flowers.
