in Diamonds Are Forever, Inklingo, quilts

A couple days ago I posted some of my hexie diamonds for Diamonds are Forever.

Some more here that aren’t pressed and in the process of:

More colors waiting to be made into diamonds.  These are not necessarily the kind of colors I normally work with but I had won a large bundle of fat eighths and these were it.

Now for your opinion!  What color should I use for the background – the white shown on the pattern  – I have at least 7 cream prints if I keep them for use in the centers it will be ok to use a white/cream background but if I use those for the diamonds also they well blend into the background and not stand out.  Now a couple here and there might be ok like that but I think I would probably have enough for 10 or more diamonds so that might not work.

So I need to keep an eye out for a background color – any help from you all?  Yellow? a dark Brown? a dusty rose?    I might very well need to add more colors for the diamonds as I go from the stash as I need 213 diamonds but over all this is going to be a more muted color quilt than I normally make.  Before I get much further I would like to get the background decided on.  Maybe just don’t make any cream color diamonds and stick with white for a background and there won’t be a problem.

Ok, Karen, since you asked. LOL. I would probably use the white or cream as a background. That will also make it easier if you have to add another color for more diamonds. I think it is going to be gorgeous!

I like the cream diamond a lot. It adds sparkle! :) Because these are colors that you don’t normally use, maybe you could audition a butternut yellow fabric for the background or perhaps a light blue that reads more grey/blue.

With the fabrics you’ve shown, I like the idea of a dark background and think the dark brown you mentioned would work well.

I’m using a very dark brown on mine, but then I surround those larger diamonds with cream.

Wow, you sure have a lot of patience to work with all those hexies! I don’t have a suggestion but I think it is a challenging project…looks great so far!

I think a dark brown would be beautiful! I think your beautiful colors would show up well.

Funny, when I was thinking about possibilities the thought of a gray w/ a blue cast! Think someone else had a similar thought! Hugs, D

Cheddar! It’s my new favorite background color. Try a steel gray (but it won’t be as happy as cheddar).

Wow, what great ideas, I lvoe the brown or the cheddar but…have you thought about black? It’s my new favorite to mix with those civil war kind of prints. Just a thought, whatever you do will be beautiful!

The first color that popped into my mind was to try a some sort of blue. What you have going on is a great color mix. I love working with these particular colors.:)
