Rainbows and Patches

in Lucy Boston--Patchwork of the Crosses, quilts

Ok, yes I know I am working on quit a few things right now and a couple haven’t been touched much (applique projects for some reason I’m not interested in them right now) but the rainbow colors of that big charm pack was calling to me.

I got out the featherweight – set it up, got the pieces cut, cut some white and got busy chain piecing this morning.

001

What a tangle up mess – not really – it was fairly easy to cut them apart.

003

What is left to sew

005

Half of them pressed

This Patchwork of the Crosses is finished

And this one is next.   I think I need to do 3 more after this one and I will have enough to sew row six on in both directions – I will count them later and see if I am right.

007

Off to get my hair trimmed after lunch then exercise.  Wish me luck – the last time I got my hair so called “trimmed” it was so much shorter than I wanted that it has been almost 3 months I believe since I got my hair cut – I did trim it myself last month but it needs to be done better than I can do – trying another place! At this rate I will have gone through all the places in town and will have to start all over again soon – I guess I’m just picky – but it is my hair right – they should cut as I say I want it done!

That’s why I’ve been cutting my own for 8 yrs now. I hate looking scalped when I have someone else cut it and I hate having to make apptmts. I usually do a trim most every week or 10 days. That’s keeps it the same length all the time. I love reading your blog. I’m amazed at the handwork you do.

Hope you receive the trim you are happy with. It has been nearly three months since my last haircut too. Same reason, cut too short but now it needs thinning out as I have very thick hair. Hair and hairdressers seem to be a never ending problem.

How inviting, chain piecing with the sun shining in…very relaxing. Will this be another donation quilt?

Wow! Lots of progress being made! Sometimes those pretty fabrics are too hard to pass up, even when you have other projects on-going. :-)

It took me a while to find a place that I liked for cutting my hair, too. I actually go to a local day spa and have them do it. Its a little more expensive than other places, but I have yet to get a bad haircut from them. For me, the little extra expense is worth having a haircut that I like and can live with.

Just loviing the Patchwork of the Crosses! I have a friend who loves to do handwork and can’t wait to share this pattern with her! Looking forward to seeing what you are up to with your rainbow of colors! ~karen

Finding a good hairdresser who doesn’t get scissor happy is so difficult! Once I found a good one, I have followed him from salon to salon!

Looking at the top picture I think I’ve figured out how to make two of those colors, but I have yet to do a green. I think you’ve inspired my little brain, it’s tick-tocking away.
