Sweet Potato Biscuits – Wonderful Food Wednesday

Baking/cooking, quilts

Just when you think the worst of winter is gone we hear we might be in for an ice storm.  Snow sometime later today from what they say and then ice in the nighttime hours – lets hope for no power outages!

My daughter Jessica over at At Home Take Two  has a feature called “Wonderful Food Wednesday” - you might want to check out the links to all the wonderful recipes .   I am including the biscuits I made last night for this.  Recipe is from the Southern Living Cookbook featured in the cookbook shown.

Sweet Potato Biscuits I made these lovelies last night for supper and have a bag of them in the freezer as well.  Nice and soft – yeast and baking powder in them. So nice and soft that they are more the texture of dinner rolls instead of biscuits.

Too lazy to type it in = here’s the recipe.  I had no canned sweet potatoes – I boiled and mashed two large ones and mixed the butter in with them when I mashed them and it worked out great.

I got all my pieces of the rainbow trimmed to the correct size yesterday and I plan on getting the design wall up and get started sewing today – of course if the power goes out I will work on one of my hand projects instead –

I have my two ferns and the petunia hanging basket back in the house to weather out the storm coming – of course I put them outside too early Smile but I have only had to bring them in the house a couple of times in the past two weeks believe it or not.  This cold spell won’t last that long I bet.

Can’t believe you had plants outdoors already – of course they should come inside to weather out the weather! We had about 3″ of snow last night, just enough to cover all the bushes and trees but not enough to cancel school. It looks really pretty out. I got some tomato seeds to start indoors, but I think I’m going to wait til mid-late March. Still, I’m anxious for spring!

I have been thinking about making one of those zigzag quilts with some jelly rolls, so I’ve been watching your progress (and small but understandable booboo)! It’s sure to turn out great.

Made the biscuits for supper. Didn’t raise as much as I thought they should have but the flavor/texture was awesome. Enough for tomorrow’s supper with homemade minestrone soup. Thanks a bunch that recipe is a keeper!!!!!
