Wow what a nice day yesterday was and another one coming today. It got up to 78 degrees yesterday– we sat out on the porch in short sleeves and bare feet eating ice cream on March 15th – what can be better than that
of course we all no we have the ups and downs of early spring still around here – two days in the 70’s then one or two in the 40’s then one in the 60’s and back and forth it goes for all of the next 6 weeks most likely except the lows keep getting higher of course!
Even though I was outside a lot I still got a bit of sewing done off and on throughout the day and evening. I decided that on Uncommon Bride – I do need a new name – that I will make a border of these hexagons: aren’t they cute! I need 36 of them I do believe. They are 5 inches going top to bottom and 5 3/4 going across. I will need to add one more sashing though I think so I can fit them in right – about 2 inches I think. I will have to look over the colors and decide what to do with it. In between where the hexies meet will be white on white print triangles. I don’t know how many different colors there will be but I think I can come up with at least 9 colors and then do repeats of them – possibly more colors and less repeats. These of course are from Inklingo designs.

When I got done with the second hexagon I decided to not start on another but to pick up Patchwork of the Crosses and continue on with my row that I am connecting.

I got a little package in the mail today from Karen in Texas – a thank you for coming to the call of Operation Home Front for the baby quilts for military new moms. Thank you Karen – what a neat little sewing kit full of fun size notions–
The kit:

Open it up and look at everything that was enclosed – how sweet!!

Put it back together and it all fits so nicely – thanks from one Karen to another Karen this was such a useful cute present – you really didn’t need to do that.

I love the hexagons for your ‘I’m not common’ bride quilt…I’ll ponder names and pop back if I think of anything!

I think the quilt is a Fortunate Bride for having you as its creator!

thanks for the ideas on names – I’m going to have to write some of these down and then decide – I’m adding “Starry Bride” to the list also as there are stars in it and these hexagons have a star design in them as well.
See now you are on a roll with your uncommon Bride it will grow on you again I am sure, the hexies look fantastic! Also that IS a super idea and really compact that is a sweet gesture.
There are many talented Karen`s I`ve noticed in blogland…LOL
