My Big Crazy Hexie

in quilts

Well this was a little project and I got it quilted last night well I was watching a couple episodes of Gray’s Anatomy.

I used a variegated thread.  I will see if I get to the binding today.  I’m not sure what I’m doing today – depends on the weather – might be rain and 50’s today.  If I get the binding on I will get this tossed in the washer and dryer to give it that nice comfortable crinkly look.  I’m really not sure where I will put it  – depends on the final size.

Yesterday I went to our State Guild quilt show and they had entire displays on hexagon quilts. You would have fit right in!

Looks great. I have a hexagon project I need to finish up before I head back to the east coast. I’ll consider this a gentle nudge in that direction and will lay it out first thing this morning so it is staring me in the face!!

I love this hexie, I think it would be gorgeous as a quilt and many crazy hexies. I bought a book on Pieced hexies where the hexies are pieced inside the hexie. A guild member pieces her hexies where there are pieces inside her hexies and I always admired her quilts.

I love this idea. I’ve been thinking I need to clean out my scrap bins and use up the small pieces to make crumb blocks … you have me thinking crumb hexagons.

I really am loving this one! I had a note on my tumblr yesterday:

” just wanted to thank you for posting the things that inspire you. It is all beautiful and especially the link to your mother’s quilting diary. Like most people I skimmed over the blog but I hope to take a closer look someday and learn something about the art of quilting and maybe a little about your mom. From what I have seen the blog is a display of creativity spun out over many days and years. thank you, Phil ”
