Esther’s new BOM is now out and if you go to her yahoo group you can get in on the free patterns. You must join the yahoo group though in order to have access to the patterns. Someone asked me about it and I said I thought it was available on her blog also but I was wrong – if you go to her site you can join the yahoo group from there.
I have the introduction and Part 1 printed out but I am not starting this project right away – I have fabric decisions to make and also would like to make a little more headway on other things. But seeing as Love Entwined is a BOM for 18 months I will be able to work on it right along side my other projects. This BOM is almost entirely applique – there is a little piecing here and there. If you go to her site you can see what the center block looks like to get an idea if you would like to make it.
When I was in Tulsa I did stop at two quilt shops for brief visits – and I am trying to remember the names of them now – Cotton Patch and Quilt Sampler? something like that. I really didn’t find much. At the time I didn’t have my photo of Love Entwined to get an idea what I wanted so I didn’t find any fabric. With prices raising I have decided to mainly buy for projects as needed or when very much on sale and continue to use what I have for scrap quilting and fit in on quilts in progress as needed. I will be buying fabric for this new project but I want to think about it for a couple days first and then I will do on line shopping like I normally do.
I did buy a few notions. Batting tape of which I was totally out of, white chalk for my mechanical pencil which I only had a few pieces left. Some “soft fuse” for applique they didn’t have it buy the sheet but had it on a roll and I got a yard of it. The Thimble Dimple is for the under finger when hand quilting. I had a different one but it was totally rounded and the needle completely slipped- I didn’t like it and don’t use it – this one has a “dimple” and it might work better.
here you an see the difference – don’t have a clue if it will work better – maybe?
I am really poor at vegetable gardens – I do not produce much – it is almost laughable at times. I dug up my potatoes, I probably could have left in the ground for awhile yet but I like the small new potatoes so just went with the small crop. I have enough for about 3 meals, this is just part of them. At least the tomatoes are doing fairly well. I will take a photo of the sunflowers soon as they are almost to the point of opening – I have one open that is from a smaller variety – most likely from the bird seed that was dropped in this area – about half of these are that kind and some are the giant. I think the green beans will be done by the end of next week – so far I have had 3 meals with them and I will have enough out there for about 3 more meals I think. My cucumbers are doing very poorly and so are the yellow squash and zucchini. As soon as the beans are done I will be pulling those plants up and scatter flower seeds in their – zinnia’s and marigolds maybe? I will look and see next time I run to the store.
At least most of the potted herbs are doing well!
