Love Entwined

gardening, Love Entwined – Esther’s BOM

Didn’t do much in the line of sewing yesterday – 4th of July was pretty lazy at our house.

I have the center compass in place but need to still work on the small circles that go all the way around – or maybe I won’t!  I haven’t decided.  I tried embroidery and didn’t like them and stopped after 3 and undid.  Then I tried tiny applique – didn’t like how they were turning out- oval – took them off – tried fuses on a practice piece to buttonhole stitch – that didn’t work either.  I have some tiny circles from the group that I normally use – see side bar for circle tutorial — but these are tinier than the tiniest ones I have!  I will give it another shot today or tomorrow and maybe I will just make them larger than they have for the pattern – but I really think I will wait until the next part comes out and decide then what to do with it!!

This will be squared up when the next part comes out telling me what size it should be for sure.

The Sunflowers continue to grow but the leaves are getting eaten up by something – not all of them but some.

The little watermelons are getting a little bigger – I have two of them – seems to be slow growing!

I have been using Karen Kay Buckley circles for appliqué for years. Perfect every time. She has a small size variety package and also a larger size too.

She just came out with scissors which I want to try.

    Love the sunflower.

Would felted wool appliqued with a buttonhole stitch work? I don’t envy you – tiny circles are really hard. I did two fusibles on my Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler which worked OK but I hope they hold up after washing.

Glad you had a sunny fourth!

I joined the LE yahoo group just to watch everyone’s progress on such a beautiful quilt, but I don’t have enough experience to do such an undertaking . Such a pretty quilt!

Love your compass, the colors go so well it looks 3D. Still waiting for fabric.
