You can’t just make one hexie can you unless you want a mug rug! For a quilt the size of Diamonds are Forever I will need over 200 units of these to make the quilt about 100 x 100 like I normally do to fit our bed and have enough drape over the sides of the bed. So I guess I better get busy printing and cutting more. I started with more of a variety of color as I mentioned earlier in the week. This pattern in case you have forgotten what it looks like. It was free on Connecting Threads for awhile, but I don’t see it now but they do have other hexie things for free.
I got a lot of these printed out yesterday. Print on the wrong side of the fabric and those are you stitching lines – the dashes. The darker straight lines are you cutting lines. I do most with the rotary cutter and ruler and then the edges I clip with the scissors while watching tv.
All of the hexies cut into square units and now they need the edges clipped like the one in the lower right hand corner.
I will print more from these colors to mix in with all that I have.
I got a lot of the hexies clipped in the hexie shape last night while watching the news – the ones on the right are the new ones and the box at the top has a pile of white taking form.
Just these two stacks left to clip the edges from then I will start to print out more. That cutting mat looks bad doesn’t it! I have had it for a long time – I prefer the self healing mats.
Now that I am done with Patchwork of the Crosses I will be able to spend more time on this one – it is the only piecing project right now all the others are applique and I get tired of applique now and then
I have had a problem with my blog program so if you have asked a question and I have not gotten back to you ask again. Normally when someone leaves a comment it goes to my personal e mail and in the comment section of the blog post. For the last 4 days it has not been going to my email which I check frequently all day long – habit what can I say – I am not used to looking at my blog post off and on all day so a couple days ago I thought I had gotten unpopular as I wasn’t getting any comments – just joking - I happened to look at my blog post Friday night to check something and saw that I had several comments to approve and then I saw that I had been getting comments – people were still in touch with me LOL – so now I need to start checking my blog off and on so I can read your comments!! New habit to form – Mike doesn’t know what the problem is – maybe an update to something to do with the blog changed things? Don’t know.
Craftsy has Amy Butler fabric marked down 20% – jelly roll of design Bell $26.39 and Layer Cake $21.59. Yardage is also marked down – if you like her design Bell now is the time to get it They have a lot of other really cool fabric at very good prices – I have a feeling for my birthday present this year instead of shopping at a quilt shop I just might sit down to the computer and order some fabric from this place!!
