I finally got finished machine quilting the 9-patch – I say finally like it took so long – just under 10 hours of quilting but 9 days of working on it! I must admit some days I only worked on it for 20 minutes or so before I quit. I am glad to get the quilting done though, the binding is machine stitched on and I am working on the hand stitching. Two sides, done two to go.
I know me and I will like it much better after I wash and dry it and it has that crinkly old fashion look that will suit this 9 patch so well in my opinion. It will also help hide all the un-straight lines and the tiny little puckers that did manage to get in it here and there. Overall though I am very much pleased with the way this one has turned out. It is my best machine quilting attempt to date I still need to practice on getting my lines straighter.
On Saturday night watching MI-5 last show of the second season, I got a little more of the Red and Green Applique quilted. I need to finish this little bit and then go back to the middle and work my way out from there. Sometimes I work from the middle out and other times I start on the end. When using the 3 roller it doesn’t really matter where you start as the quilt is pulled tight on the ends and it doesn’t really need smoothing out on the back side normally.
I will keep working on this big quilt of course but I am looking forward to getting the backing and basting the Uncommon, Common Bride quilt and getting it ready to quilt in the hoop. I will just have to keep going back and forth between the two and for something different now and then when my fingers need healing I will work on Floral Fantasy and the Diamonds are Forever. For now I think the Love Entwined quilt might rest for a little bit and I will keep saving the patterns. I just got started on too many quilts this year and want to get some of them progressing a little more. So many ideas for quilts next year!
