Busy Day

quilts, Red & Green Traditional Applique, William Morris in Applique-Floral Fantasy

I went to the Friday morning quilt group and finished the Floral Fantasy applique block – it was almost done and I had brought all the blocks along to show the ladies – they had seen the block I had been working on as I had brought it last week but only one of them had seen any of the other blocks.  I think it is four more blocks and then the border.  I started this quilt at the beginning of the year and I think it will be well into next year before it is finished!  If I really had put the effort into this quilt I could have been finished with it by now – each block takes about a week or two to make once I get started on it – so you can see how much time I have actually put into it this year!

I also brought the Uncommon, Common Bride along with me to work on the hand quilting – I knew I would be finished with the applique block in about 10 minutes and I was.  This is the last corner basket of flowers to quilt and then I need to decide on echo quilting grid in the middle here to fill it up.

I have about 30 of these blocks finished for a child’s quilt.  I actually have not figured out how many I need LOL, I need to lay them out and see what it is like.  I have 5 more of the fat quarters to use and the cream color still has about 1 1/2 yards left – plenty to make more!  Maybe it will make two quilts we will see.  They go pretty quickly – I cut 4 1/2 inch squares and then start to wrap the square – the width of the side strips are 2 1/2 inches.  I put them on the top and bottom of the square first and then on the sides.  I will need to think up a cute name for this quilt.  It might end up a twin size instead of two baby size.

Thursday night I did indeed finish the half way mark on the Red and Green!! and I continued on

Officially over the half way point Smile

Now I better get back to work – (I write this the evening before it is posted so I have several hours of quilting ahead of me)

(I am compensated for any purchases made through my links.)

I love watching your progress. I can’t find a pic of the full red and green top. Would you mind sharing a link?
